Lebron couldn't handle Pippen, much less Jordan.

Watch this and tell me different. I've had enough with the Lebron comparisons to the greatness of the players back then. We don't have alot of great players anymore. Just alot of good ones and because Lebron is the best now, doesn't mean he could hang with the best ever.
PLEASE! Lebron can't even handle Paul George.

Awesome watch.

While LBJ's head is over the rim.

You also have to realize the defender could get away with a lot more back then, now you can't touch the offensive guy with a finger. It is impossible to compare.

Watch that vid. Pippen is flying around swatting everyone. Was quick too. Lebron would have his hands full. It is what it is.

Putting Pippen in the same sentence with Lebron is pure nonsense.

Lebron wouldn't even be top 10 during the Lakers vs. Celtics vs. Bulls vs. Bad Boys era of the 80's and early 90's.

Lebron would've worked Pippen. I saw him guard nobody in that video that had the size/speed/athleticism combo that Lebron has. In fact, the only guy from that era that deserves to be compared to Lebron was on Pippen's team, so he never had to guard him.

Pip is my favorite player of all time. Lebron is not this good on defense. No one is.

In Lebrons defense the rules are different now. If he was allowed to hand check like Pip was then I think he would be a great on ball defender.

Players in the 80's were much less athletic than today and only a handful of teams emphisized defense. It was more about outscoring your opponent than it was to shut them down.

When you have Bobby Jones and Dennis Johnson making 1st team all defense back then..... should be an instant tell.

James has faced tougher defense's in this era (around the league) than he would have back then. He would have done just fine in those era's

Great players would have been great in any era. I disagree about the athleticism of previous eras though. The human body hasn't evolved over the last one or two generations. Players of previous eras were just as athletic. The difference now is better training and medicine.

I should have emphisized "speed" when referring to athleticism. I feel there are many more players today who could beat guys off the dribble back then. Don't think DJ would be making many all defensive teams facing the speedy PG's of this era.

Lebron makes first team all defense with .09 blocks and 1.7 steals...

Here's 2 consecutive years for MJ 1.5 blocks, 2.9 steals...1.6blocks, 3.2 steals...

Pippen 2.9 steals, and 1.1 blocks, 2.6 steals ppg, and 1.2 blocks...

See the huge difference. Pippen and Mj actually played great defense and had stats to back it up. Lebron is on the all defense team purely because of his high profile name, and marketing behind Espn/nike...

Its not really that the human body has or has not evolved. The point is that you did not see people Lebrons size doing the things he can do prior to the 90's. Now days most players that are 6'8" can almost play guard with ease. The thing that amazed me about Magic for example was that he was 6'9" playing PG.

Perhaps it wasn't that 6'8" or 6'9" players couldn't do it, but rather that no one had tried it before Magic!!
