just wondering what is your thoughts on Batting average vs on base percentage??
Like which one I want higher? What I want is runs which is the one thing Moneyball hates.

Jesus christ you're fucking clueless. Which is why I said to "stick to PF."

Moneyball was about using different methods of evaluating players, and one of the things the A's valued highly at the time was OBP... which has a higher correlation with scoring runs than batting average. And it wasn't long after Moneyball that other teams started to put a bigger emphasis on the things the A's valued highly and they were forced to start looking elsewhere.

in his defense, it's easy to get distracted by the pure charisma of Brad Pitt

He never should have let Jonah Hill go to the Dodgers.

Moneyball was basically sabremetrics before sabremetrics. And they probably used sabremetrics to prove moneyball correct.

even OBP goes all the way back to Branch Rickey, though it didn't become an official MLB statistic until 1984. Moneyball just helped it become more mainstream and now you'll see it on the scoreboard at the vast majority of stadiums.

That we now have data not just on basic ecofacts like OBP, but the under the hood stuff that goes into BA like the quality of the contact, angle, pitch, etc and we still have people hating "analytics" is just people telling on their anti-intellectual selves.

Run differential now sits at -177.

It's May 23rd. I wonder if they'll make it to -300 by the All-Star break.

The more I reflect on this move, the more I love it...

Having a ballpark on the strip is mind blowing... I'm already looking forward to flying out to see the Sox...

The A's can 'simply' move their AAA team from Vegas to Oakland - and keep the name and uniforms...

I'd love to see the Vegas A's use a green, gold & black color scheme...

Clearly the team in Oakland now IS their AAA team
