Lakers 2016 Season Thread

You know the drill man, one player's calamity is another's chance for opportunity and success. The Lakers had every way to win this season in the terms of ending the season with a good crew of players. The only down side was we had to accept another season of losses in order to get them there, but now Ingram is already looking like a veteran player, Randle is a beast, Russell is getting into shape and Clarkson is fantastic. Lance is good and will be once he comes back and the Robinson/Black combination gives the Lakers some size and defense in the paint and Zubac is developing nicely as well. I think he is going to be a keeper as well. Really we have a lot to be excited about

I am glade they are shaking that 1-10 streak. I had my worries. 30 wins is a good season. I have little doubt they won't do it. LA will look good to free-agents again.

I am not even worried about free agents because I think this core of young players can be that good.

You need to add a good veteran free agent in the off season. You will not win a title or make the playoffs by not doing anything.

I think a leader on the floor is needed. A veteran with some cred to come in and help Luke get through to these young players. World Peace is not that guy, they need a guy like Fisher or Magic. Take charge kind of player.

Lakers get win number 16 against Indiana riding 27 points by Lou Williams. The Lakers are getting better slowly and we may reach 20 wins by Mid-February.

Russell left the game like 2 minutes in with what they are calling an MCL sprain. He's got an MRI tomorrow. Hopefully there's no tear. It'd be nice to actually see him and Ingram playing well at the same time. Russell was great at the start, Ingram struggled. Then Russell got hurt in December and has been hit or miss ever since and now Ingram is playing well.

Lou Williams should not be in ANY trade talks. The man is an offensive machine.

To me, that's why he should be in trade talks. This team isn't making the playoffs, Lou won't be around when the team is actually contending and he is one of the few assets that the Lakers would be wiling to move that could actually bring back some value.

Mozgov's main jobs are to be a mentor and a rim protector. He's doing fine as a mentor and I think he's getting too much blame for the defense not being any good. The perimeter defense has been pretty bad and it's hard for any center to stop unchecked runs at the basket.

Having said that, I do agree that they aren't exactly getting what they paid for with him overall. I just don't think it's as bad as it looks with him.

I really liked the Ingram pick. I was never a fan of the Russell pick. I am still not sold on him. I just hope he improves as a point guard. Seems injury and turnover prone so far.

Agree to a point. I think they should be playing him, but these are winnable games and Luke has to coach for the win. If he doesn't feel Zubac can help him win, then he shouldn't be in.

However, why not put him out there in the 2nd or 3rd quarter? Or even early in the 4th? See how he does and give him a quick hook if he struggles.

Zubac is going to be really good within 2-3 seasons. Trade Mozgv in the 3rd year of his deal and give Zubac the starting job.

Nance may make Randle expendable in a trade. Nance needs to start......Robinson would be a capable backup.
