I see what they're trying to do but I hardly see Hollins getting any playing time if he does sign.

They need to get a legitimate 7 footer. Not a Sacre or Ryan Hollins.

Well its not like there's a legit guy out there. Hollins is a hair better than Sacre and likely the best guy available. It's not really worth fretting over though. The guys you're signing now to rosters are basically just filling out roster spots and have little to no impact in the grand scheme of things. They're all basically interchangeable. For the 4 or 5 teams that have a real shot at winning the championship each year, these spots matter a bit more. But for the other 25ish teams in the league, you might as well draw a name out of hat.

And the Lakers are one of those teams, these days, that are just drawing a name out of the hat. This could be another scary season.

I think all these guys that the Lakers have been working out recently will be nothing more than training camp invitees. They currently have 13 guaranteed contracts. I don't see them committing to another player until they prove themselves during training camp and/or the first couple months of the regular season.

Nick Young's new nickname is "Daddy Swag". He's been making rookie calls at the practice facility in team work-outs pre-preseason. The articles are hilarious. There are several. They are indeed a funny read.

I like how they're all getting along well.

Something we didn't see two seasons ago.

Ellington is THE definition of an NBA Journeyman. He's just good enough to be an NBA player, but doesn't do anything well enough to make you think twice before letting him go. He's a decent defender but he has an annoying habit of abandoning his assignment to get a quick leakout layup once a shot goes up. He's a pretty decent 3 pointer shooter, enough that you have to respect him, but he tends to gun for his own stats once one or two falls. For this team, sure, why not sign him and see what happens.

General manager Mitch Kupchak announced today that the Los Angeles Lakers have signed guards Keith Appling and Jabari Brown and forwards Roscoe Smith and Jeremy Tyler to their training camp roster.

Appling went undrafted but averaged 10.6 points, 3.3 assists, and 3.0 rebounds in four seasons at Michigan State.

Brown, a teammate of Lakers guard Jordan Clarkson last season at Missouri, averaged 19.9 points, 4.4 rebounds and 1.9 assists in 2013-14.

Smithm who spent three years at UConn and one at UNLV, played in all five of the Lakers' Summer League games last season.

Tyler is a three-year NBA veteran who has played in 104 games (23 starts) with the Golden State Warriors, Atlanta Hawks and New York Knicks, averaging 3.6 points and 2.6 rebounds in 9.9 minutes per game.

The training camp roster currently stands at 18.

And the preseason is just around the corner!!

definitely looking forward to it, man. looking for the Lakers to bring a better squad this season and HOPEFULLY staying healthy. the latter imo being the key to this team's improvement...well that, AND the improved coaching of my fellow Morningside Monarchs alumnus, one Byron Scott...:yahoo:

if we somehow make it to the 7th or 8th spot i'd say we're going in the right direction...
