The next couple of weeks will probably compare to the James FA weeks.
So the question to Laker fans based on all you know so far as of today, do you hope he stays or hope he goes?

Howard's washed up, and a liability since he can't hit ft's...Lakers should look to do a sign and trade.

I guess you can call me a legacy Lakers fan but I don't want inoperable cancer on any team of mine. Jim Buss is embarrassing the club right now with even attempting to court this jerk.

I voted undecided because it was the closest to I don't care!!

On the one hand, athletic 7 footers like Dwight don't exactly grow on trees and towards the end of the season he was starting to look more like the Dwight from a couple of years ago!!

On the other hand, he doesn't appear to have the type of mentality that is required to lead a team to a championship!!

If he signs, that's fine the Lakers can build around him in 2014!! If not, the Lakers will take their lumps next season and then re-build in 2014 when only Nash's contract is on the books!!

The Lakers should have taken their lumps after the All-Star break last season and we'd be ready to contend in 2014. But we'll never admit to rebuilding, it's not what we do.

Man I was on this board SCREAMING from the mountaintops that Kupchak was fucking up by NOT trading Howard last year.

It was CLEAR he wasn't a good fit, and they held on to him purely out of stubbornness and this idea that since he's the best center in the league he MUST be a Laker. The dude brings nothing of use to the current team because he's just not mature enough to handle being a Laker.

You guys could have loaded the team with good, young talent for Dwight Howard. Add in the luxury tax situation, and it was a no brainer to offload him when you had the chance. I'll never understand WHY no move was made to improve this team at the trade deadline.

Simply put.......Worldpeace, Nash, even Gasol as well as Howard should NOT be wearing Laker uniforms next year. But that's not going to happen.

That's why I just don't get too excited about it anymore. I just don't care enough.

Man you care. You probably saw the same things I did a week into the season. I predicted before the season started that they wouldn't make the playoffs. I was off by a game. There's just no chemistry, and I don't think any of the guys there outside of Kobe even WANT to be there. I don't think Kupchak is willing or being allowed to do what it takes to make this team a contender. It's either him or short buss or both........but they just keep fucking up.

You'd be shocked how little I care about the Lakers, man. If Glenn "Doc" Rivers hadn't weaseled his way into the Clippers organization I'd probably be pulling for them to do it next year but certainly not now.

In all honesty I think you keep him... HE may not be the centerpiece but you can build around him as a Robin... You let him go though I'm fine with it as well... I think the posters should show all the HOF centers not Howard... Or all the championship trophies... If he can look at that and walk let him... I also go with Hollins and they can use Howard as an excuse if Buss is that weak... I'm am disappointed in what Dantoni brings, I was a huge fan of the move... He must go now!

So I guess I said all that to say yes I'd like him to sign... If not I wouldn't be heartbroken, but I'd like him to stay...

Have they really sucked the life from you like that? I don't think Lakers fans know what it's like to truly SUCK like my Mavs have for all but one season in history.

When Magic left, I lost some love of the Lakers which began declining exponentially over time. When Shaq left, there wasn't much left at all. Now, if it comes down to the playoffs, I want them to win or against Boston or other hated teams. But in general, I just don't care that much.

I can understand why you wouldn't want him on your team but Kobe is not going to be the same and it is partly his fault that D12 doesn't want to play there.

You have to build around somebody and there isn't a lot of pieces available this off season, the draft was weak, unless you guys are joining the Wiggins sweepstakes you might want to root for D12 to be on your team.

Problem is Kobe will be in a wheel chair and still need everything to go through him.

Sign and trade should have been the option all along.

1) With Clippers for Bledsoe and Griffin,

2) With Mavs or Rockets for decent young player and draft picks.

Who do the Mavs have to offer in a sign and trade of value?

Might be a challenging year ahead but all signs point to '14 if D12 walks....doubt they'd take on contracts with a sign/trade but don't ever be surprised what Lakers can pull off. Most times it's worked but not with Nash and D12 obviously.
