The way Jung and Crim are playing they should be on the MLB roster by June of 2022
Foscue and Thompson probably June of 2023
Cole Winn probably mid next year as well.
Sam Huff needs to finish the year strong and start off next year strong and he might be at MLB next summer.
Josh Smith has a nice OBP ability and decent speed. He could be a great 2B but we already have Solak, Ibanez, Yonny and Foscue too.
Maybe a few of these guys start trying out LF and CF but then again we have Taveras/Thompson for CF and Crim for LF.
looking forward to how all this plays out over the next 2 seasons.
In all honesty we probably just need to go after one big bat at SS. I would be happy with any of them. Story, Correa, Seager, Semien.

I think Semien goes back to Toronto

Seager goes back to LA

Astros offered Correa 6/120 so he’s probably not going back there. I could see a team like the Mariners or Tigers severely over paying for him. 11 year $330 million

I think the loser there will be our competition with Story. To go along with the Yankees, Cardinals and Nationals.

So true. We have a team full of fringe type players who all have promise but a little bit of doubt attached to their name.
DJ Peters, Solak, Ibanez, Yonny, Guzman.
You’d almost be nervous to let any of those guys walk.

Peters could become a .255/.330/.470 .800 OPS 30 HR guy

Solak and Ibanez could be .280/.350/.450 hitters with 20 HR which would be nicely above avg for a 2B.

Yonny could become one of the best lead off hitters with a .375 OBP 25-30 SB and decent defense. Enough to be a 4 WAR player.

Guzman could be a .265/.345/.455 hitter with 25 home runs and amazing defense at 1B.

they all have talent with some promise. We’re probably going to make the wrong decision on one of them or maybe even all 4. Keep the 2 wrong ones and let go of the 2 good ones
Or maybe we let go of the 2 bad ones and keep the 2 good ones
You never know until afterwards
If opposing GMs share your optimism about them, then all four could be traded for a nice return.

Like I have said many times. There is a lot of fodder to cut from the 40. It shouldn't be hard at all.
I understand your feelings but I don’t think the FO will agree with some of what I think should go and the same can be said about some you would release. They have to look at every player on the 40 and make hard decisions about which stay and which go and not base it on personal feelings.

I think Wes Benjamin, Brock Burke, Matt Bush, Cotton, Folty, Lyles, Santana, Wood and Yung
Culberson, Holt, Eli White, J Martin and one or 2 of our catchers will not be on the 40 man come next year.
could see us trading a player or 2 as well. Like Guzman or Trevino or Curtis Terry.

6 of them are sure things as they are FA’s at the end of this season. Pretty sure of another 3 on your list being released or traded. The others are maybes

This from Scott Lucas about Daniel Robert, a relief pitcher pitching currently for Frisco. He is someone to keep in mind for our own next year.

"Daniel Roberts' last six outings: 9.2 IP, 6 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 19 SO. I went back and watched his week-old outing at Amarillo (better cameras and velo readings) and some of last night. His arsenal doesn't leap off the page: 92-94 fastball, 80-82 slider, maybe a curve. He relies heavily on the slider, which has an almost floating quality out of his hand but acquires anger late and doesn't end up where the batter thinks. He generates plenty of misses with it and can also bring it through the front door for a called strike. He offsets that with a fastball that runs up/in to righties."

If we had to jettison all of the guys below, it would not hamper our long term goal of being a serious contender in 2 or 3 years. I wouldn't mind holding on to some of them, especially Guzman, but we wouldn't be hurt long term if we cut or traded every one of them. The tough decisions will come in deciding which few to keep. There is a good chance that almost every one of them will be cut or traded within a year and a half. Of course, some could be resigned.

Looks about right
Kind of like to give Anderson some time but yeah he’s pretty much replacement level so wouldn’t matter to much

You may be right but i don’t think even the Rangers would do all of them. Maybe some by the trade route but not just cut them

What players need to be added to the 40 man this fall?? so they don’t get rule 5

No, there would be no reason to cut them all within the next few months. I just don't see many being here a year and a half from now, and several will be gone 3 months from now.

That is up for great debate. With so much fodder on our 40 I would keep as many as we have to, myself.

You listed 19 and the first 9 we lose to FA will just get us down to 40

This is from Adam Morris, although more were added by the trades in late July. Crouse is gone and Terry, Latz and Snyder have already been added.

Here are the players who are Rule 5 eligible who I think would get at least some consideration to be added to the 40 man roster this offseason.

Curtis Terry

Ricky Vanasco

Ronny Henriquez*

Bubba Thompson

Hans Crouse

Cole Ragans

Jake Latz

Ryan Dorow

Yonny Hernandez

Steele Walker

Cole Uvila

Jacob Lemoine

Hever Bueno

Nick Snyder

Miguel Aparicio

Joe Gatto

The first six players listed are all, I think, near-certain to be added, though I have Ronny Henriquez with an asterisk because I am not 100% certain that he is Rule 5 eligible this offseason.

So we have 10 more guys to jettison of we need to. That's why it seems we are in great shape.
