Didn't realize this was a 4 game set
I hope to shout I will be mad. That is insanity at best. How much do y’all think Carlos Correa will sign for and years??
Lindor had 4 AS appearances, 4 top 15 MVP finishes, 2 silver Sluggers and 2 GG
Correa has 0 top 20 MVP finishes, 0 GG, 0 SS and only 2 AS appearances
would y’all be mad if the Rangers signed him to a 10 year $270 million deal?
Mad? No.How much do y’all think Carlos Correa will sign for and years??

I think he does have that ability. So maybe we should see if DJ has what Gallo the ability to improve. He is showing that possibility
Team is currently 40 games under .500. To improve 20 games in each of the next two seasons would be huge and get the team to .500. The dilemma is signing free agents will help achieve the improvement but then millions of dollars and a percentage of the contracts in terms of time and player aging will be eaten up during the rebuilding. How much do y’all think Carlos Correa will sign for and years??

40 games under .500 sounds absolutely awful on the surface.Team is currently 40 games under .500. To improve 20 games in each of the next two seasons would be huge and get the team to .500. To me, if you feel the right guy is available, then go get him even if it is a year or two too early. The reason being, another right guy may not be available a year or two later.Team is currently 40 games under .500. we will have to wait and see.If he is at ST there is a decent chance that it is on a minor league deal after he is released.
you may be rightYeah, he’s been very bad.. 24 starts between majors and AAA with an ERA of about 7.00
Not sure we even bring him back on a minors contract with the depth we have..
Right back at youBTW happy Labor Day, Ranger Faithful
We really wanted to make room for DeShields so we had to expose Herrera. We have some minor league talent but as your system gets better other teams will pickup your castoffs
Remember us losing Herrera to the Phillies which I thought was a mistake but guess it was a spillover consequence of a good farm. Plus other players such as Cruz and Wisdom are on different time cycles.
To me we need to make sure we get as many test runs especially with those non rostered players subject to rule 5 this final month.
Yup we may be surprised and even critical of some players released while keeping unproven yet with higher ceilings. Think Peters is a prime example of a potential keep
About half of what we need to cull from the 40 will be easy with FA’s etc but the rest will require some pondering before they are released. We will need to clear enough to get under the 40 once the 8 or 9 presently on the 60-day IL and then clear enough for any FA’s and for the Rule 5We really wanted to make room for DeShields so we had to expose Herrera.
We could have easily kept Herrera, we just misjudged his talent. That had better be something that has improved because we are about to have to do a lot of culling and sorting on the 40 man, the 26 man, and the starting 9. The 40 man will be fairly easy. The rest could be a challenge if we judge talent the way we have in the past.
So true. We have a team full of fringe type players who all have promise but a little bit of doubt attached to their name.About half of what we need to cull from the 40 will be easy with FA’s etc but the rest will require some pondering before they are released. To be honest the only one I would do anything with is Guzman who I would look to trade. Of the others I automatically keep Peters (too much potential to let walk) and some other team would welcome get him.So true. DJ Peters, Solak, Ibanez, Yonny, Guzman.
You’d almost be nervous to let any of those guys walk.
Peters could become a .255/.330/.470 .800 OPS 30 HR guy
Solak and Ibanez could be .280/.350/.450 hitters with 20 HR which would be nicely above avg for a 2B.
Yonny could become one of the best lead off hitters with a .375 OBP 25-30 SB and decent defense. Enough to be a 4 WAR player.
Guzman could be a .265/.345/.455 hitter with 25 home runs and amazing defense at 1B.
they all have talent with some promise. We’re probably going to make the wrong decision on one of them or maybe even all 4. Keep the 2 wrong ones and let go of the 2 good ones
Or maybe we let go of the 2 bad ones and keep the 2 good ones
You never know until afterwards
Like I have said many times. There is a lot of fodder to cut from the 40. It shouldn't be hard at all.About half of what we need to cull from the 40 will be easy with FA’s etc but the rest will require some pondering before they are released.
