IIRC the Chargers got bodied by the Patriots once because a good Patriots team had a good gameplan against them and they got bodied again by the best Patriots team and not by much.

There are a lot of really good football teams that dont win the Super Bowl. The Chargers were probably always going to be in that category.

The problem with Coach Schottenheimer is come playoff time he always got super conservative, I remember those Chiefs teams being power houses in the 90's, but once the playoff started he just didn't open up the offense at all, he would go into super conservative mode.. Also, one year I think it was 97 when Rich Gannon had the Chiefs ROLLING into the post season and Schottenheimer benched him for Grbac, I"m not even a Chiefs fan but I was like WTF is this guy crazy ? Gannon was on fire ...
