Still not good enough to win titles though
Rome wasn't built in a day... gotta start somewhere... yada yada. Golden State is a historically great team, so it's a tough road to #1 for anybody.

In the end, though... Irving instead of IT is a "compete for Championship" move. It's a clear step in the right direction, in other words.

IT is that big of a liability and weak link on defense. That's why I am warming to this trade this morning.

It was a bad trade.

And frankly, for all the posturing, since the end of he Big 3, Danny has really only won a handful of trades.

Rondo and the KG/PP one.

He just get destroyd here and didnt' win, and mostly lost, his other deals.

Read that "rebuilding of the celtics" article that came out on espn in the last week or so.

their run is already over.

They needed a legit 2 way star, they got a guy who is slightly better than IT and gave up their best hcance of landing a star.

No titles for them.

Probably 4th place in the East for the 2019/2020 season when Kyrie is gone and Horford is on his last legs of his contract.

Even IBWT, the best coach in the league, can't save this dumpster fire.

f*ck ainge.

You were never one player away.

You're stil one player away. And now you can't one.

Frankly, I'm shocked that you of all people @The Q are not a fan of this trade.

You've been lobbying for a while to sell IT.

Even if you don't love the trade off... I thought getting rid of IT would sway you more.

You don't just complain no matter what, do you? :heh:

Wasn't the move to get IT a trade? That wasn't a win?

this is a move for 2018 and beyond when lebrons in LA. its not for this year. this doesnt make them better than cleveland NOW. it does in about 10 months.

I think they are neck and neck with Cleveland now

Its not good as Lebron gets older, he now has to shoulder MORE than ever

in 2-3 years when curry/durant are on the wrong side of 30?

the C's will have irving in his prime, a 30ish year old hayward, along with brown and tatum entering their primes.

If Irving signs, thats no sure thing

Apparently, all day yesterday was Ainge trying to get creative in keeping Tatum, the Cavs wouldnt budge off of Tatum, thats how the Nets pick got involved

he will dirt. why wouldnt he?

he would own the east on what is probably the best team in the east, starting next year. irving is a huge fan of stevens too.

he wanted a team to be his, he has it.

Yeah, fine you 3 wins.

Look at the rest though. It's not pretty. They're either who cares or losses.

Cavs will undoubtedly have the deepest team in their history next year.
brooklyns trying to improve tho, even if its subtle. that pick gets out of the top ten and its a win for the C's.
There are 14 lotto teams every year

I cant imagine how this pick would be 10- let alone outside the top 10

Realistically--- I think the worst team in the league is Orlando. they are pitiful. The Hawks are pretty pitiful as well. I think talent wise- those are prob the only 2 teams that are worse than Brooklyn- though the Hawks have a good coach and some vets.

In the West the only 3 really poor teams are the Kings, Suns and Lakers...the Lakers have no first rounder and are trying to entice free agents so i see them trying to win. The Kings added George Hill and have made some improvements.

The Suns are pretty awful- but i mean- they still have Bledsoe and Booker- which is better than anything the Nets have by a mile--- but the Suns are in the West and the Nets in the East.

If I were to guess right now- id say the Nets will have the 4th worst record--- with the Magic, Hawks, and Suns being worse.

Then you have the Lakers, Kings, and Bulls as pretty bad as well- but i think those 3 should prob. be better than the Nets.

I cant see how the Nets would possibly be better than 7th worst--- I think its at least a 90% probability they land between 2nd and 7th in the lotto rankings.

When I said they should sell high, I didn't mean Danny.

I wanted Cousins. Or just deal IT for some more premium picks to keep the line moving forward.

RPM has Crowder as the best player in the entire deal (20th, and Amir was 21st...aka why the Celts were able to win 50 games with no obvious star).

This was just not the move. This was not a team that was one player away from GS. At all.

does he?

Hayward was told the team would be his.....its his former coach....the Boston fans will gravitate towards hayward....

Id say Hayward is more the face of the franchise their than Kyrie- but we shall see....itll be interesting.

No question.

Kyrie is gone in 2 years.

Danny just set the franchise back 4 years, easy.

And any of the top 5 or 6 players in next years draft are better than Tatum or Brown.

Im not so sure that team is his....Hayward is an all star, Tatum can be great......I think time will tell what kind of teammate Irving is....So far what we know is that he's been a pretty big dick to teammates and needs to own the spotlight...Irving will never be as popular as Hayward in Boston, Hayward was born to play in Boston

Hayward is gonna get Larry Bird treatment in Boston

Its been pretty well established that Kyries' ego cant handle not being the most loved, so he isnt signing in Boston
thats kinda what i was thinking....

plus- with how much Boston gave up for Irving- there will be a LOT of pressure on him to perform.

Hawks have a great great coach, and he alone will keep them from being a complete embarassment

definitely any of the top 3 thats for sure

there look to be 3 legit franchise type players in next years draft at this point. We will have to see how the next 3-4 guys play out.
