Statistically it appears to be a wash, Irving is a bit younger and 6" taller so the hope for Celtic fans will be that he can play a bit of defense. We know that Isiah Thomas can't guard me.
What happens when he realizes C's fans like the new white boy a lot more than him?

He's shown his true colors to me already. Can't handle being second fiddle to the best player in the world. He's gonna struggle with it more when he has to share with a borderline All Star.

He'll be playing for a real coach now, not coach Lefraud. It will make a difference.

Isn't I.T. in a contract year, seeking a max next summer?
Besides that, it's his personality. He'll play hard.

Banking on D. Rose. Good luck.

Brlliance of playing with LeBron. Maybe for some, not for all.
Ask Kyrie.
I.T. needs the ball.
You think James is giving it to his 5' 6" new buddy when it matters?
banking on d rose?

hes a backup

its just so funny to see how you guys react to your dream of LeBron leaving Cleveland start to crumble right before your eyes. lol.

Isiah is an awful defender....thats not gonna be a lot of help--- i mean- Kyrie sucked ass at defense too but at least he has the size to be a decent defender if he ever starts to try on defense.

he played better on defense in the playoffs when the intensity rose.- Kyrie did

To me Crowder is a huge part of this trade. He allows LeBron to be LeBron- and not to have to waste all of his energy on defense all the time. Crowder can go balls ot the wall guarding opposing wings and the Cavs.

To be honest with you...

Cavs have almost too much depth now-- they need to find a way to get rid of Shumperts dumb ass....honestly--- ive never seen a guy think hes a celebrity just because hes a bench player on a nba championship team.....i couldnt stand watching him play basketball by the end of last year- even though he actually started the year fairly well....his defense just was not what it was the year before.

So....lets see what hte Cavs tarting lineup will likely be:

Pg: Isiah
SG: JR
SF- LeBron
PF- TT
C- Love

Bench: Crowder, Korver, Rose, Green, Shumpert, Frye, Jefferson, Osman, Calderon, Felder, Zizic....someones gotta go.....is Zizic definitely coming over? why the fuck did they sign Jose Calderon? lol. Shumpert needs to go- no use for him.

There is a lot of flexbility and depth here....could see some interesting lineups.

Rose, Korver, Crowder, LeBron, TT would be interesting.

go with all shooting- Isiah, Korver, JR, Bron, Love?

or go all defense? Rose, JR, Crowder, Bron, TT?

congrats Cavs fans....we can all exhale for the time being. I was worried they were gonna get screwed badly since it appeared they didnt have any leverage.....Danny Ainge to the rescue.

The real question is if there are more flat earthers in Boston than Cleveland.

the thing is- if they win in Boston he will get credit....i think it bothered him that the best player in the world got the lions share of the credit in Cleveland.

I mean- he got his wish--- he has his team now--- and that team is the Cavs biggest competition in the East....its gonna make for some great theater thats for sure.

Celtics need to shore up that front court somehow. A front court of...? what? Horford, Morros, Baynes, just isnt going to cut it.

Kyrie is a unique individual -that is for sure...obviously i dont think he LITERALLY thought the world was round...but he has some weird ideas.

He def. has the chance to prove himself. I wish him luck besides when he faces the King.

Cleveland still has no titles without Kyrie, think that is indisputable.

I don't think going to a team who just added a guy that played for the HC before is a good way to get your own team.

That pick from Brooklyn isn't going to be the only good draft pick Cleveland has in the next few years.
God forbid - as hes one of my favorite players-- but if Russell Westbrook gets hurt and the Thunder fall out of it you just might be the recipient of that pick the Cavs just got ;)
LeBron will prob be sipping coffee on the bench.

As far as Boston, they lost a lot of their personality chasing Kyrie, Hayward.
I'm not sure if they'll be that much better, if better at all.

#rest

Boston will still likely be the 2nd best team in the East.....Toronto and Washington arent THAT far behind though---- Boston is still quite a bit better than the next tier of teams like your Bucks, and Heat and Charlotte etc....

Boston will be really good when/if Tatum and Brown develop, and Kyrie enters his prime in a couple years.

The trick will be to try and replace Horfords max contract slot with a different better player in a couple years before Brown and Tatum get their extensions and eat up that cap space for good.

true enough

and knowing Boston fans- with how much they gave up- and how much many of them loved Isiah and his personality--- if Kyrie doesnt perform in a big way they could run out of patience with him pretty quick. He has a lot of pressure on his shoulders considering what they gave up for him. I think Kyrie wants that pressure though. He thrives under it.

But you are right- - I gotta think - the coaching staff, ownership, the fans- they all want it to be Haywards team.

Dreams of James leaving?
As I've stated. He already won there. The thrill of him never winning there is gone.
Remember when I told you once they lost again, after season 1, that their Big 3 was done?
If Cavs dont win this season, my best guess, by far, is that James leaves.
What is his incentive to stay?

Kyrie definitely doesn't fade under pressure.

I'll give him that. No doubt, he thrives when it matters.

well- seeing as you have been wrong about LeBron at about every step--- ill take that as a vote of confidence :)

never come back to cleveland
never win a title here
never sign a multi year extension

question- you think the Cavs keep that Brooklyn pick or spin it for a Cousins or Gasol - or maybe even Paul George at the deadline?

@DJ

I gotta say- I will be rooting for the Lakers in every game they play but the Cavs though......makes the Celtics pick they own of yours worse- and if they finish ahead of the Nets- which i think they will- it will be a very good thing.

I never said he wouldn't come back to Cleveland.
I said he'd never play for Gilbert.
We all know the story.
No reason to rehash.

The title happened.
The multi year (1 without option), was done for James best interests. No one else's.

You act like I'm the only predicting he leaves.
Griffin thinks he's gone. Biliups thinks he's gone. Kyrie felt he was gone. Gilbert thinks he's gone.
Who doesn't think he's gone if ( when) Warriors toy with them again?

I think Cavs keep the pick, unless James assures him he's staying.
Nets are bad, but as @bksballer89 pointed out, they could finish in the bottom 5-8 worst record.
Even the worst record isn't guaranteed the top pick, so my guess is the pick can't have a true value attached to it until the lotto is over.

Since long before you were born. Hell, I'm old enough to remember the Knicks being good!

LOL, that doesn't make you that old. The Knicks had a decent season a few years ago, but the last time I remember the Knicks truly being one of the top teams in the league was back when they made the Finals against the Spurs. They had a nice extended run of success in the '90s and some really memorable games, including the one where Van Gundy was being dragged by Mourning's leg, Reggie Miller scoring a bazillion points against them in 1 minute, and the game where Larry Johnson had a 4-point play at the end of a playoff game. They were definitely an entertaining team back in the '90s. Hopefully, remembering the '90s does not make me considered as an old person.
