It does nothing for me in terms of the cavs chance against the warriors. IT is easier to defend than Irving.

True but Isaiah is more of a team player and they got a 2 and D guy...picks could help depending on what they get for the future

From the Cleveland perspective

- IT gets you almost equivalent scoring with arguably more heart and passion
- Crowder gets you a 3 and D wing player that can be utilized in closing situations where defense is a higher priority
- Pick(s) could be used to flip for another player

From the Boston perspective

- Irving gives them the true elite superstar they needed. Crowder was expendable given all the wings they already have. Picks also expendable

This will make the Cleveland vs Boston rivalry a must watch every time they play.

Isaiah, Crowder and picks. I love it

Hate it. Thomas FA after 17-18, probably 0 chance he would end up resigned

Don't see how they logically do this without getting one of Jaylen Brown, Jayson Tatum or Brooklyn's 2018 pick

Looks like they are selling out for the one year plan though. Which is going to put the Cavs into a major pit after 17-18

If the Celtics don't have to give up Brown or Tatum.......I'm in with both feet.

I'd guess that the Cavs will get the LA/6ers pick and the 2019 Memphis first rounder.

Aftermath of the trade if it happens

Warriors trembling and shaking in their boots. Steph sending in his retirement papers. KD looking for a trade to Cleveland. Matt Barnes just drove to Fisher's house again.

Isn't I.T. more ball dominant?
Do Cavs really want to max him next summer?
Small sample size but Celts played better vs Cavs once he was out.
For sure Kyrie needs to go, but do we know what any other offers were?
If I'm the Cavs, the pick(s) would have to be something substantial.

Sounds like it's basically done as long as they can match salaries

If the picks don't turn out good, this is a disappointment

The problem that Cleveland is having is that Irving publicly demanded a trade. They don't have a ton of leverage. IT and Crowder and the picks that Ainge wants to give up will be the deal. Salary match is the big issue.

Boston in this supposed deal is getting the better part of this deal. Kyrie is just as bad of a defender as IT, but he's much harder to guard. Crowder was expendable as soon as Boston got Heyward. He'll be a suitable replacement for Shumpert in the playoff rotation. It will be interesting to see which pick is given up to Cleveland though.

I dont see the upside for cleve...well outside of the potential draft picks. I mean Crowder is decent, but Thomas is short, ball dominant, and you gotta pay him next year.
As for Boston, I dont know, Kyrie is a upgrade, but he pretty much does what Isaiah does

Cavs save about $6 mil this year too, if I am correct

It's a marginal upgrade for Boston. Only reason it works is because he's slightly better than IT, and he's still on a good contract for the next 2 years.

Cavs will still be well over the salary cap. That changes next year if IT re-signs considering he'll be a free agent. It only helps Gilbert in luxury tax savings.
