Pau Gasol never won a playoff game until he was traded to the Lakers. All of a sudden, three straight Finals appearances. It makes a difference who you are running with. Love and Irving now get to run with the best player in the league.

Pau Gasol had made the playoffs beforehand as a 5 seed.
There is a difference between losing in the playoffs...and never even sniffing an 8 seed.

Pau joined a team midseason that had played together for half a season (with freaking Phil Jackson) and was in the middle of their 3rd consecutive playoff season before he even got to the Lakers. The Star player he joined forces with had already won 3 titles with that team and that same coach and franchise.

That is not exactly what the Cavs are doing.

Injuries can happen at any point in sports. Derrick Rose and Paul George who had varying injuries aren't even close to 30 and don't have the miles on their body like Lebron. No one here is saying they want to see Lebron injures, but it is something to keep mindful of. There's a reason Kobe started breaking down as the minutes he's logged in the NBA is ridiculous. Lebron's on a similar path given the fact that over the last several years he's been deep in the playoffs.

You understand if you are more prone to injury it is more likely to happen, like I said a freak injury can happen but he is in tip-top shape. Not very likely to happen. Kobe didn't at 30 and no I am not going to think about Lebron getting injured.

What if, god forbid, Lebron has a career-ending injury? Would you stick with the Cavs or find another player?

Me personally? I wouldn't mind if it happened to Love... the career ending injury.

But seriously... The people on this thread are overplaying Love's injury history as some big deal. He broke a couple bones in his hand, then re-injured the same hand after rushing back and refusing to play with the removable cast. Other than that, nothing else that was of any consequence.

Not making the playoffs ir barely sniffing them has little to no impact for most players. If you truly are a good or great player, it is just another game. If you can make open shots in games, you can make open shots in playoff games. Maybe one series to get a warmup and that should be all it takes. We have seen this from many players in recent history.

Well, he's going to be 30 & has played in 1,000 games since entering the NBA from HS. He has a lot of mileage for somebody that's just about to turn 30.

So, you agree. Running mates make a difference. Neither Love or Irving has played with the caliber of player of Lebron.

The playoffs is a whole different league... You can ask Brooklyn fans about that. It's a whole different ball game and players that haven't been there before usually struggle a bit. Lebron knows it and that's why he is they aren't ready now or this year.. Maybe next year we'll see.

The Celtics Big 3 had a terrible record before they formed. Gasol had a terrible record before Kobe.

So what?

Cav Big 3 will get a first round bye in the East and thatll let them figure out who they are. From there they should be fine.

There aren't byes in basketball, you must be thinking of football.

Well, of course it is expected that LeBron will downplay the Cavs' chances. He basically has done everything the opposite of how he did the Decision in 2010. He also said this before the Love deal was in place. I think we'll see the Cavs v. Spurs in the Finals next year. Should be fun to watch.

Because the 8th seed in the East will be a team with a losing record, it might as well be a bye.

Playing the 7th or 8th best team in the East is pretty close to a bye. I mean...you're talking about the Nets or the or the Knicks or someone like that.

A healthy Knicks, Hawks, or Charlotte squad isn't a bye.

It's all about match-ups. Last year the 8th seeded Hawks who matched up with Indy perfectly took them to 7.

I don't know why everyone without seeing of any teams play a game is assuming the 1/8 match-up will be a sweep or a 5 game series.
