This is what I'm thinking as well. See how he develops Trey Lance. I think last years covid season gets thrown out by management. They got riddled with injuries to key players and ended up playing home games in Arizona. JimmyG's inability to stay healthy and on the field gives Shanny a longer leash then many would get. But if Shanny really falters thus year and can't bring Lance up to expectations, all bets are off next season.

How long Kyle lasts in SF depends entirely on Lance. And Lance will be given a couple of years to show if he can play or not. That means that Kyle is completely safe this year and through 2022. Even if 2022 goes badly, he'll get the 2023 season as a last chance b/c his contract runs through 2025, and I think ownership will find it easier to eat 2 years of his contract instead of 3.

well last year the defense was destroyed by losses. I mean they will live & die by their defense. That is what keeps the HC safe. (for the next two years)

Just signed an extension last year and I just don't see him getting fired before having at least a solid year with Lance as starter. Because the hope is Lance will be for Shanahan what Stafford is for McVay in that you're getting rid of limited QBs and replacing them with QBs that have a much larger range and can open the offense more.

The owner York isn't going to be eager to fire Shanahan or Lynch either since those hires brought the reputation of the franchise out of the toilet thus brought his own reputation out of the dumpster. Aside from the product on the field Lynch/Shanahan really did clean up the front office from infighting, leaks, and power struggles to something far more professional and structured.

The Seahawks defense gives them the basement room. On pace to be the worst defense in the SB era. Yards allowed, at least. And with RW gone for 2 months, will likely lose a lot of games. Jaguars might be the only win in that span. And even that is iffy.

Agreed. Wilson is a huge loss but they will surely win at home against the 49ers
