There are degrees of challenge.

Take the Pacers for example. They aren’t contenders. I would not say they have a “challenged roster”.

Knicks have less talent than at least 3 teams they are ahead of in the East standings (Miami, Washington, Orlando).

That is what Thibs has brought. They are a 6-16 roster with a 9 and 13 record. They are competing. That is a solid coaching effort.

Marcus Morris was the Knicks best or second player when he was there.

Right now, he is like the 7th or 8th best player on the Clippers.

Similar deal with Gallo and every other recent Knick who signed a big contract.

And by the way, 15 - 20 million a year is quality role player money for a veteran.
