A lot better than you think clearly.

The 2 best shots in basketball by percentages are layups/dunks and open 3s.

Teams are shooting more because analytics tell them too. 33% from 3 is the same as shooting 50% from 2. And most NBA players shoot better than 33% on 3s and significantly worse than 50% on midrange 2.
Oh. Bullshite, teams are shooting more , because the 3 in basketball is the HR in Baseball, more glamorous, puts people in seats to sell their $ 6 cotton candies, and $ 9 beers.

ANALytics, like yourselves are ruining the game. It’s being discussed right now in all sports. It’s gone too far. RATINGS, Are down because of it.

Question T lance ....

you say thibs is challenged on the offensive end of the game .

Knicks have other coaches on bench who were head coaches in this league . Is thibs a tyrant that he would not allow input from them, or , once again my opinion that NBA coaches are for the most part, clueless.

The head coach sets the tone. All head coaches who achieve any kind of success have what they are "known for", their "calling card".

Thibs is known for defense. If you are on a Thibs coached team, you better be prepared to play defense, or you're not going to play.

When you have a team like the Nets who are going to be less talented than their opponent most nights, the best way for them to be competitive and even win some of those games, is to play tough defense. That's what Thibs brings and why his teams usually give more talented teams fits.

If/when the Knicks get some more talented players, there should be a little more emphasis on offense. But as long as Thibs is your coach, the Knicks will hang their hats on their defense.

Lol, you guys say it’s a star driven league, coach has no real affect, which is it?

again , the fact that you admit the coach is one dimensional here and are ok with that tells me all I need to know.

what BS, the Knicks have enough talent to execute a plan. Burks solid shooter , quickley puts pts on board quickley , Randle the dumbell putting up all star #s , barrret, has his moments, Robinson, if you could Get him ball, bullock a good 3pt man.

And again , what am I asking for here, you have to at least!!! every once in a while !!! execute a plan... how many close games have the Knicks lost that if they just execute a plan could have pulled one off.

last nites game was a game you have to win. The bulls let them back in game at least 15 xs that I saw . Pull away only for the Knicks to come within 1. It’s so hard to watch, taking T lances advice to not watch is the smartest thing he has posted here.

You can’t possibly prove me wrong cause the numbers don’t lie. Ratings are down because the players who are in control are not doing what’s right by their fans . Indisputable

Very disputable.

Ratings are actually up 34% from last season.

And here are the top 8 teams in the league in 3 point percentage:

1) Clippers- best record in NBA
2) Brooklyn- 8th best record, best offensive rating
3) Utah- 2nd best record in NBA
4) Milwaukee- Tied 5th best win percentage
5) Chicago- lone outlier- 9th in East
6) Denver- Tied 5th best win percentage
7) Lakers- 3rd best record
8) Boston- 4th in East

So yeah, you are thoroughly wrong. And that is indisputable.

This was NOT even my argument. You side tracked me with this BS to avoid the obvious.

my argument that you clearly are avoiding is that there must be a game plan other than playing good d. You have avoided all my questions ...

you bring up the 3 pt shot. The Knicks are not a good 3 pt shooting team, so why did you go off track?

In other words, I completely dismantled your point that you said was “indisputable” and now you need to change the subject to save face. Got it.

I was very clear about what Thibs is. The Knicks have gotten pretty good defensively because that is where Thibs invests his time and energy. If you want the Knicks to focus more on offense, there will be a trade off on the defensive end.

Perhaps they could be better offensively. They could also be a lot worse on D. And the overall result so far is better than what most people thought they would be. Because of Thib’s ability to coach defense.

lol, first off thibs ain’t coaching defense.

The players get minutes if they play it.

He ain’t implementing anything but man to man , which again any moron can do.

Why are you avoiding the real questions I put fourth to you?

Haha.

Seriously? Man to man defense in the NBA is very complex. Lots of different coverages against specific actions.

Shows how little you know.

And I have answered your question. Your expectations remain completely unrealistic.

Man to man. lol , Follow your man, hedge if picked blah blah blah

defense is much more than that.. there a half court press , full court. 1-2-2, 1-3 -1 2-2-1 zone defenses that if used properly during a game can make one hellava difference . The other night Portland, had thibs implemented one of the zone D to contain lilliard , who knows what could have happened.

I’m really not up on anything other than team I support , sorry I cannot elaborate on who Halliburton is, I’ll trust your judgment.

I always said coaches, no matter the level, need to coach. How is Toppin to grow if he is not led? that kid to me has dominque abilities, he’s long, great hang time , power to the hoop drive. He’s got a nice touch from deep. But, what he doesn’t have is leadership .

You can see Qickley needs no one to influence him, he takes charge. He runs the court. But there’s only so much he can do, you need strategy from a coach for them to execute.

Halliburton is a really nice sized true PG with a solid all around game, something the Knicks really needed on draft night. And he just won rookie of the month with Sac

Toppin always reminded me of a Stacey Augmon. Slasher with a limited game away from the basket. Maybe he becomes a nice 12-14 point scorer, just not a fan of his style

As soon as saw PG , that was a no brainor for Knicks !!!! makes me think of , I think it was Stephen A Smiths reaction, head in hand , to the Toppin pick, another forward ,???? Lol.

Toppin and Knox , will not succeed during thibs tenure. Soft on D

You so vastly oversimplify it is unreal.

Against ball screens they can hedge, switch, Ice, monster, go under, etc. and there are variants of each of those actions that require all 5 players to be in the same page. That is just ball screens.

Similarly there are different ways to cover pin downs, staggers, etc.

And at the NBA level, good defenses have multiple coverages for each action depending on the strengths of the personnel they are facing.

And there is much more.

You acting like defense is simple shows your ass big time. That is what most NBA coaches spend the most time on by far, how to best guard the opponent’s actions with their coverages
