As far as being happy with the Knicks....

I call as I see it! And again I made myself abundantly clear as to what my expectations are, but, you clearly as I have also said before retain nothing.

first off I’m very happy that I’m watching the game. Haven’t been in tune this long for many years.

second, happy to have thibs, but, what I did not know about him concerns me for this team to do more than just compete.

they have to incorporate some strategy other than relying on randles game, and the shots behind the arc when barret and Peyton couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn, seems to be happening every other game.

on the offensive end we must find away to get the ball down low to Robinson, all this kid does is receive the ball up high, pass off and never touch the ball again. What the fack is that? Pick and rolls, geez, if your shot is off, drive to hoop, open it up for Robinson!!!

on the defensive end, to save the legs on these guys, we know thibs is tough on his guys, do a little Zone D . It saves the legs, and, their opponents have been beaten you with the 3’s , it’s a no brainor.

thibs is known to work these guys hard in practice. RUN SOME PLAYS!!

im definitely happy to see them stress the fundamentals, boxing out, free throws, have improved. And that’s what has gotten this team to compete. Now, if you want to get to next level, which is a PS position. You must implement play on both ends.

This team is not good enough, consistent enough to continue this kind of play as season progresses and the veteran teams really get their shite together.

Zone doesn’t work as anything more than a rhythm breaker for a few possessions in the NBA.

Players are too skilled.

There is a reason none of the good teams use it. If it worked, they would.

I know you have not watched the Knicks...

More than half the games they have played it’s been used against. Even in preseason.

LOL.

What I said still remains true.

Good teams don’t play a lot of zone.

The Knicks probably have to because some of their best players are terrible defenders.

Wait, zone D has been used against the Knicks, not by Knicks. Why would I suggest it be used by knicks if it already is?

what remains true is that you are confusing the crud out of me

I misread your post.

And who has used zone? And for how long?

A few possessions at a time maybe.

But also, the Knicks have a lot of non-shooters, so I would imagine teams would be more willing to play zone against them.

I don’t know the data for this season, but across the league, it was used about 5 possessions a game last year.

In other words, very situational and about half the teams play very little to no zone.

Bottom line, If you want the Knicks to be a good defensive team, they need to be good at man defense.

Yes, it is being used sporadically, but it is being used. And by some of the better teams.

the Knicks have shown some great
Transitional D during the game but when their shooting is off , they tend to slack off. They can’t afford to have this happen if they want to get to PS. Man to man D same.

the other night, hopefully that was their worst for a while. Horrible shot selection, early foul trouble , Randle no it’s 1st half .
pts. Guys were afraid to shoot at one point, dribbling around court like chickens with their heads cut off ...

thibs has to figure out way to get Robinson the ball, he’s got good hands and is very quick, ball to hoop action...

It is tough.

Post play is dead. Modern defensive rules make it super inefficient. So you need to get him catches diving to the rim on pick and roll and off dribble drive and dish. That is where he is going to be at his best.

Been out of game for long time. I do see that low post game is done. Everyone is a shooter in today’s game.

that’s why for someone like me to watch is frustrating. Robinson really serves no purpose . I mean , the shots taken are mostly 20 footers, and on a miss the ball usually deflects in a manner that guys are patting ball out to a teammate, and they consider that a rebound? I believe Tyson chandler made a career out of it...

I don’t know man, when Robinson is on court it’s 5 vs 4 to me...he rarely gets any garbage pts. And that makes a big difference.

Yeah, the role of big men has certainly been diminished a lot. But, they can still be highly valuable. They just need a different skill set.

1) pick and roll finisher
2) pick and pop shooter (not Robinson)
3) protecting the rim
4) defending in space on P and R coverages.

Robinson does 2 of those things pretty well already. If he can get better at #4 he can be a terrific player.

In fairness to Robinson , he playes very good defense, great length, quick hands, steals and deflects....

On the offensive end, cannot put ball on floor, doesn’t create any space, and, doesn’t have much luck , luck usually comes with hard work , maybe as you say with maturity it will come, who knows?

Thibs is the closest thing that exists to your ideal coach in the modern NBA.

You are going to be very disappointed if you fire him.

Pasta might be the most bipolar fan I've ever seen.

I don't think he's even bipolar, he's always stuck on "fire everyone they all suck" no matter who it is
