The Washington Redskins are reportedly considering franchise-tagging quarterback Kirk Cousins before trading him.

On Sunday, Adam Schefter of ESPN.com noted the Skins are evaluating the option as a way to "recoup some of the compensation" they will trade the Kansas City Chiefs for fellow QB Alex Smith once the new league year begins in March.

Yep, however, it's also possible that this was agreed upon between Kirk and his people, before the Smith deal was done. Additionally, that signed tag gives them the option to keep Cousins and trade Smith, or actually trade Kirk and keep Smith.

If they somehow pull this off, and I still have major doubts that they will, I believe that Barkley comes into play.

If they some how pull that off I will admit Bruce is a Sith lord, might be more lucky than Stupid, and could be one of the craftiest individuals in the NFL.

Hell I will even pay to have his name tattooed on Deans ass. :thumb:

And there it is. Some fantasy football bullshit. There isn't a team in the NFL that has been more affected by FF than the Washington Redskins. Lets spend 104 fuckin million dollars so we play more fantasy football..

Anyway that we can add more than one rating? I gave a "winner" rating, but it's also funny as hell!

ok we will go over this again , tagging him eats up all the cap space until he is traded at 34 mil one year rental status . that means all these shiny toys you want wont happen . guys we want to keep wont happen because at this point the skins have fucked KC hard so cooperation isnt likely . now you puppets keep dreaming

Dad, if we had KC under contract for one year, do you think we could trade him for more than a 3rd round pick? That is all it takes to make it a good business move for the team. This notion that he wouldnt sign a deal for 34M for 1 year is ridiculous. He would jump at that deal.

look at it like this.. I'm going to pay you 34 million... worst case you will be stuck working for some one who doesn't really want you around.

Best case you will have your deal sold to another company.... it could be the company you want to go to... it could be the McDonalds in the worst area in town. And again if I cant seal your deal, you get stuck working for some one who doesn't want you there to begin with.

Or you wait a few days and know that YOU get to choose who you work for without some one else dictating the process.... which would you choose??

It then becomes a game of chicken, where one side stands to lose at maximum a compensatory 3rd round pick next year and the other at maximum having no where to go. (because teams have moved on at the position)

Exactly. And it is my take that KC and his camp will find no value in this game of chicken. It serves no purpose for them. He will eagerly sign the tag. the worst that can happen is he is paid $34M next year as a second string QB on a terrible Redskins team. And in 2019, he is still the top FA on the market and his value is still there.

Correct, and I'll also throw in the very real possibility that these threads continue to go 'round and 'round primarily because posters are viewing this from one POV, when in actuality there are three side of this coin. (Kirk, D.C. and Team TBD) albeit, in a relatively short period of time.
