Heath is a great example of a one-trick pony that hasn’t panned out (yet).

He has one EPIC joke. And that ONE joke got him a GT. Now, unfortunately, he is a KT joke (and not in a good way).

Yea his piece is funny if you see him once. You already know what he's going to say when he steps out there.

Thinking back on that episode…

Hinchcliff’s Notes.

Holy shit, what a horrible name.

And that guest they had that episode (forget his name) made a few other guest spots. I HATED that MFer. He was everything that is wrong with LA. He is/was EXACTLY what Punky ended up being.
Yeah their other idea was Tag it or Phagit.

Yeah Rick Ingram was kind of annoying. There were a couple other early guests that could get under your skin too when they would get all preachy. Sam Tripoli was one of them.

Good concept, bad label. The idea was that the pulls were hiring the show to workshop their jokes. Any tags said during their “interview” (the ”interview” was TOTALLY different than it is now) would “belong” to the pull and they could do with them as they saw fit.

The show is no longer about “workshopping”. It is totally about talent scouting and showcasing now.

Another 4 guest episode. It's too much
I suspect it is Foley and Ryan as the scheduled guests, then Ari and Normand just show up.

Just a guess, but is usually how this type of thing happens.

Wow…

So far, this is the absolute worst episode yet.

Full cringe.

Those were some of the absolute worst bucket pulls ever. That might be the reason they are kind of mixing in more semi regulars and local golden ticket winners. They are getting 250 people signing up so of course most of them suck. So if you get someone good, statistically you might not pull them out of the bucket again for months. That's one thing that I kind of miss from the early days when it was just actual comedians signing up. There were few enough people that you could see someone like a Dan Nolan every couple weeks. I don't mind one or two fans coming on and trying it as a bucket list thing, then getting roasted but I'd rather not see the Majority be awful non comedians like that last episode. I guess it was good that it happened when they had the two characters on.

LOL

Good ol’ crack-addict, jail-bird Dan Nolan.

I agree about the old days when you actually got to know many of the bucket pulls because they sometimes became semi-regulars just because there weren’t that many names in the bucket.

Is there any question that Jacob Barr was a scripted pull? How often is the last pull of an episode “that guy”?

It was actually heroin, but yeah that's the guy. Always had some good one liners. I liked how he would start his sets by saying he was sober but "today is my cheat day"

Yeah that might be a little suspect. Some day I'll do a statistical analysis of what part of the show all of the disabled people were pulled.

what does scripted pull mean?? you saying everyone was part of it??

i do think the timing was a coincidence, but i am sure he was a name that was planned to go on at some point...

there is definitely some sort of cheat... do we know if it is 250 different names?? or is it possible that the people they want on get more names in the hat??

250 was just a ballpark on my part, but every now and then he'll say how many names are in the bucket and I think it's been over 200 a few times.

a scripted pull would be pulling a name out but instead of calling that name calling Jacob Barr, or whoever he wanted to have come up.

who does this?? is it tony?? or does someone in the back come over and say Tony you gotta pick this dude...

i can definitely believe production makes picks... and this was one... but i do think the timing was still coincidental...

It is a show. No reason to weight the pulls. Just fully rig it.

I believe MOST pulls are legit random. But many are arranged beforehand. Basically, that means the “special” comics (Ehren, Heath, Barr just to name a few)
