The Washington Redskins signed two potential free agents on Wednesday morning, hours before they were set to hit the market.
Backup quarterback Colt McCoy will return for at least another two seasons, and defensive end Kedric Golston, the longest tenured Redskin, received a one-year deal, but his spot on the roster is not guaranteed - he'll have to earn it at training camp.
The moves came before today's 4 p.m. start of free agency, when eligible players can sign a deal with any NFL team.
The Redskins also locked up linebacker Mason Foster before free agency begins. Foster took over the starting spot that belonged to Perry Riley Jr. last year after being signed midway through the season. Riley's future with the team remains up in the air - he's under contract but can be cut.
