Furthermore Smart is a specialist who is a lock down defender and high energy player. No one is signing him for his offense.

Other than running the offense, Lonzo wasn't exactly picked for his offense either (at least when it comes to scoring).

No question that for him to fully develop and reach anything close to the hype that surrounded him, he is going to have to improve his shooting, especially free throw shooting.

But if, as you said earlier, his floor is Rondo (hopefully a less abrasive version lol) that's not too shabby, imo.

I think Lonzo gets judged harshly for 3 reasons:

1. Where he was picked.

People expect superstardom at that slot.

2. The hype he gets because of the team he plays for.

People love and Hate the Lakers in equal measures.

3. Lavar

No need to elaborate.

This Shit is better than the NBA finals....

As LeBron James remains hesitant to be the first superstar to decide on the Los Angeles Lakers in free agency, pressure is mounting for the Lakers front office to execute a trade with the San Antonio Spurs to acquire disgruntled All-NBA forward Kawhi Leonard, league sources told ESPN.

There’s a race to secure Leonard before James is faced with deciding whether to become a free agent on Friday, especially with concern that Oklahoma City’s Paul George is no longer assured of signing with the Lakers, league sources said.

While the Lakers came away feeling like San Antonio “shut the door on us” and the conversation never progressed or included a formal trade offer, the Spurs haven’t ruled out sending Leonard to any destination, in the Eastern or Western Conference, league sources said.

Agreed. But I doubt that Kyrie is going to give them those assurances. So why would they trade an expiring asset for another expiring asset?

I would imagine that Buford is going to primarily want controllable assets.

agreed.

Also why the Lakers potential offer has appeal.

Spurs have a young PG that already is all defensive 2nd team, the Lonzo/smart/Fultz talk doesn't make sense.

Well,

Murray is a decent prospect, but really nothing like Fultz or Ball in terms of playing style. I actually think Murray and Fultz could play together pretty well, as I don't view either as a pure PG and I think either could potentially play off the ball. Shooting is a major concern though.

The Ball thing is moot because the Spurs don't want the Lonzo circus.

Well we really don't know what any of the teams are actually offering. That will ultimately decide where he winds up most likely, if he goes anywhere.

Even with the report that Kawhi doesn't even want to set foot in the Spurs locker room?
Yes, they know he doesn't wanna be there. They know the Lakers are RACING to get him by Friday and yet they're in no rush. They can force Magic to give them whatever the hell they want.

We'll see. Again, all of these reports are just rumors so far...even if from Woj

Yeah. If the Lakers want him by Friday they are going to pay a king's ransom.

What @TheKlaw said....

Plus, they can force him to expand his list.

Which is more important to Kawhi.....

Getting away from the Spurs?

Or

Getting to the Lakers?

I'm sure the Celtics and Sixers are much more appealing as trade partners being in the East.

They are going to try to leave the cupboard bare.

Except Deng....lol

But, that also might work to the Lakers advantage.

Clear enough space, they can still sign 2 more max guys.

Tell LA to get a third team to take Deng's contract. Pau and Kawhi for Ingram, Kuzma, and a few picks. Maybe throw Hart in there.
