Chubb will probably want a new deal next year

Even if he does, still won't affect his salary next season. The extension won't kick in until 2022 either way. Not sure a salary of $6M is going to break the bank for a team with a ton of cap space

He's damaged goods

He just hit a woman, that is practically common place amongst these NFL players. Joe Mixon just signed a $48M contract. Tyreek Hill signed a $54M contract a year ago.

And got a possession ticket that should have been a dui just last summer

OK, but what if he stays clean and lights it up? Think they can get him for that deal?
Who cares he is a backup. Use that $8M to make your team better

Maybe because Chubb has not gotten big money yet and they can pay Chubb AND Hunt what some pay for 1 stud RB? Pretty sure Duke Johnson is getting $5 mil per as a backup, so thinking $6.6 mil to hunt not so bad.

In addition, they will be able to carry over more than nearly anyone in the NFL in the cap next season and have plenty of flexibility.
Completely meaningless. It's a team cap not a RB cap.

2 years, $13.25 mil. Browns have him next 3 years if they want (Chubb can resign after this season and have him for 2).
Will Hunt make it through a season without being suspended?

quality move. I think the Browns might surprise some people this year if Baker can hold his own.

Sorry to disagree but I think this is dumb. The cap is going lower and you pay a #2 RB almost $7M per year? That's the 10th highest average in the league and you have a clear #1 ahead of him on the roster. I guess even with the lower cap they are in good shape and don't have any big FAs they need to resign next year, but still...I'm surprised to see people liking this. I also think Hunt is overrated

Wouldn't view him as a 2nd RB for two reasons:

1. He's a 1st level talent. (if you disagree, that's fair)
2. They use him as more than just a RB. Multi-faceted offensive weapon.

Especially in Stefanski's system. We don't know how he will be used in his system but we know what type of player Hunt is...he is an all-around talented back and he can play the slot. You're right...he is much more than that.

To this day I am PISSED the seahawks didn't sign him and let him serve his suspension. Hunt was a freaking pro bowl monster for the Chiefs. He could run the ball, catch the ball from the backfield and block I could only imagine what him and Russell Wilson would do. Now look we are out here using a first round pick drafting Rashard Penny who destroyed his leg out of 19 months and signed Carlos Hyde.

Rant over
