2 years, $13.25 mil. Browns have him next 3 years if they want (Chubb can resign after this season and have him for 2).
Yep. all about flexibility for them, I think. They'll have both Hunt and Chubb for far less than they are worth (though Hunt's getting less was self inflicted)....and 2-3 years to figure out which way to go with each.Dirt cheap for the level of play he's capable of. Smart move for Cleveland. Gives them insurance in case Chubb wants to max out.
If nothing else if Hunt does what I expect him to do and keeps his nose clean could also be trade bait.Pretty reasonable given Kareem Hunt is probably a top 5 talent still at the position who can be used as a receiver as necessary. Could be some pretty cool 2 RB formations or have Hunt as the fullback if Cleveland is willing to be creative.
I don't get why he signed that deal.
I'd figure he would want to go somewhere that he can get more than a handful of touches.
Sorry to disagree but I think this is dumb. The cap is going lower and you pay a #2 RB almost $7M per year? That's the 10th highest average in the league and you have a clear #1 ahead of him on the roster. I guess even with the lower cap they are in good shape and don't have any big FAs they need to resign next year, but still...I'm surprised to see people liking this. I also think Hunt is overrated
Chubb will probably want a new deal next yearChubb will be up for a new contract in 2022 and is still on his rookie contract. Hunt will now be a FA in 2023. So it would be only one year of paying both on "big" contracts and that will be in 2022 when the salary cap jumps up. Next year they won't be hungry for more money.
Maybe because Chubb has not gotten big money yet and they can pay Chubb AND Hunt what some pay for 1 stud RB? Pretty sure Duke Johnson is getting $5 mil per as a backup, so thinking $6.6 mil to hunt not so bad.Sorry to disagree but I think this is dumb. or maybe they are thinking of NOT running chubb into the ground because they have the best backup in the league, better than most starters? If RB's dont matter, do backup RB's matter?
I dont understand this move at all unless they are just thinking of running Chubb into the ground this year and then just handing the reigns over to Hunt moving forward. Signing both makes zero sense.
OK, but what if he stays clean and lights it up? Think they can get him for that deal?At least wait until later in the year to make sure he doesn't beat up any more womenfolk...
Ok. Doesn't mean they have to give it to him..and if they do it does not kick in until the 2022-23 season.Chubb will probably want a new deal next year
