They are clearly paying him for what they believe he'll become and not what he is now.

If he can clean up some of his flaws which is mainly going through progressions and not rushing throws he's completely worth the money.

If he's plateaued as a player than the contract is a complete bust.

kyler boller, jamarcus russel, david carr, tim couch, all were thought to be good.........you get paid to be good, not cause they think you can be good.........

progressions is not a small thing, if it were easy everyone would do it!

Sounds about crazy to me, the smart thing to do would be to wait and see how he does next season. At this point Kaep needs show he can take the next step before giving him 61 million guarantee. If he does, pay him and if not move on.

Kaepernick is more athletic than any of those guys and fits SF's system perfectly. Makes sense to extend the guy, but seeing QBs like Kaepernick and Flacco getting paid the same as QBs like Rodgers is ridiculous IMO.

It's 126 spread over 7 years people. The extension is 6 years long, but the money starts this year. It's $18 mil per year.
