Does anyone remember last week during the 49ers - Bears game when CK was penalized on a "language" penalty? Well the news is out about what he said. It was the "N" word.

I used to laugh when people suggested that the NFL would have language police on the field. Imagine the ref throwing a flag on the field and then announcing, "'N' word, number 7. 10 yard penalty, repeat 2nd down." Well I guess we have arrived at that moment! Is this the first time this word has been used on the field? How about any other games played this season? Has anyone else used the "N" word? Has the NFL really become this ridiculous?

Forget about what you think about Colin Kaepernick for a minute here. What's determined for acceptable language now? Are we looking at a ban on ALL trash talk now?

I hate the word and hope it gets eliminated from the vernacular of black culture.

If you say anything meant to disrespect someone on the field, then you should get flagged.

I'm sure there are worse things being said on the field. I would hate to see what the pussed-out NFL would have done to Dick Butkus.

The NFL need to stop picking and choosing what players can say.

Could the league possibly be run by a bigger bunch of pussies? I think they get off on fucking with the jocks who beat them up in high school.

Trash talk has no place in the game--zero tolerance; excessive celebrations have no place in the game--zero tolerance; and, it's interesting how the NFL turned a blind eye to the Philadelphia Eagles' player, who actually referenced--not just an individual player--a whole race of people in a demeaning manner with use of the N-word.

Would Vince Lombardi even recognize what this league has become? Is it really "winning" if it's okay to ignore the ills that plague today's game. Have to wonder if the Eagles would have kept a much smaller receiving target than Cooper if someone of that physical acumen had dared to cross that line in such fashion. Guess today's game is all about "winning", because in Lombardi's day there'd be zero tolerance for such distractions.

The language rule is a bit weak, but it is another example of a penalty that could have been avoided by the niners.

Blacks did not invent that word.

I didn't say they did Mister. I said the NFL is already imploding, and to keep this cancerous utterances by the Philadelphia Eagles' receiver Cooper was the wrong thing to do (nothing like relaying a message to everyone else that it's okay to think the same of your darker toned teammates). You can bet your last dollar if Cooper wasn't a big target downfield Coach Kelly and the entire Philadelphia Eagles front office would have relieved him of his duties appropriately, but guess 'winning" is more important than doing the right thing. Is it really "winning" when the guy who catches the touchdown feels that some people on his team are less than human.

The word doesn't bother me. I can't think of any words that offend me just by hearing them.

Kap shouldn't have been fined, unless it was just for being a douchebag.

NFL cannot seem to get anything right these days. Let me see if I have this right: a player in the spirit of a hotly contested game makes the demeaning remark to a lone player (fined $11,000); on the other hand, Philadelphia Eagles' receiver Riley Cooper says the same thing about a whole race of people (nothing to see here folks, quickly move along now, hush, hush, whisper). Please don't tell me the NFL fined CK because he's tan, and not Cooper because he isn't...what a mess Lombardi's game has become. "Winning" for the sake of "winning" rather than being class acts on and off the field.

Sir, trash talk has always been part of the game. You probably never played sports.

It's absurd to fine a player for saying a word that is used everyday all over this country and abroad.....
If they think a word is excessive then make the player sit out a play or two, but 11g's, that's Jesse James without a gun robbery....
It amazes me that, this society is ok with insulting other races and make no provisions to alter that, just the dreaded N word....Woooo, that's taboo....
If an Italian made you mad and you called them a WOP, a Mexican a Wetback, a White person a Honkey etc...., Would that be a fine also, I don't think so.....
The N word is no different, and no more insulting....The NFL needs to get out of the Pope carriage and realize this is football, a rough, bruising high intensity game that will sometimes have flair up and angry moments where men let off some steam.....
Let them play ball !!!!

So did they hire a new official to specifically listen to each player? You see it all the time with offsides so if a guy calls another dude the N word is he going to go all elementary and tattle and say he started it then them have to go to the booth to review it?
