This is pretty much what I would have guessed. Hill had set the bar at $30M and then Brown eclipsed it at $32 with little leverage. And Justin had to get over that and then calculate for NFL inflation (thanks Goodell!).

Hell I love this contract from a Vikings perspective. I really was nervous they were going to get $40 AAV crazy.

Wide receivers are making $35 million a year now? Well, that means future salary caps will go up, which means your cable and streaming bills will go up. Ticket prices, concession prices, and parking will go up. Jersey prices and all NFL apparel prices will go up. I mean, you didn't think the owners or the NFL were going to foot this added expense, did you? They will pass it down to us, being the gullible consumers of their product that we are.

Yes I am sure the NFL is calling cable companies and concession stands right now and telling them they have to raise their prices immediately because the Justin Jefferson contract just threw the entire NFL financial system out of whack.

Hill wasn't getting $30M per year. He has a ridiculous non-guaranteed, final year salary that he won't be paid. That final year was included purely to boost his on-paper per year average. Hill has already said he plans to retire before reaching that final $44M year in 2026.

Is that a bad thing? How many of the Pat's Lombardis were because, "thank god we had (_______) at WR" or without him we lose and he is a true #1 WR.
Even Randy Moos didn't get one with the Vikes or Pats. I'd rather have studs on the lines than an overpaid #1 WR.

Jefferson is getting $100 million guaranteed and $93 million is a signing bonus - paid up front.
That means very little of the 2nd through 4th years are not "guaranteed"

CBS Sports’ Josina Anderson reports the Cowboys and CeeDee Lamb “are expected to ‘speed up’” contract negotiations after Justin Jefferson received a four-year, $140 million extension from the Vikings.
Lamb hasn’t been present at voluntary OTAs as he eyes a contract extension before the start of the season. Last year’s receptions leader (135) is set to earn $17.991 million in the final year of his rookie deal, but with Jefferson’s $140 million extension now setting the market for other receivers, Lamb and the Cowboys now have a number to work within as they hope to hammer out a deal. The Cowboys are low on cap space and have to figure out new deals with Dak Prescott and Micah Parsons in the near future. A new deal with Lamb gets one big extension out of the way and allows Dallas to move on to other deals they need to work on.
