Hope this doesn't mean cap hell for the Vikes.
No more Kirk trying to shake us down for every last red cent.

You guys really need to hope McCarthy develops quickly and is, at the very least, good. As good as all the weapons are, watching Sam Darnold miss them and throw the ball to the other team will be frustrating as hell. The over/under on McCarthy starting around 5.5?No more Kirk trying to shake us down for every last red cent.

Lamb isn't getting as much as JJ.Ja'Marr Chase and CeeDee Lamb Extension Talks next year.....
Not a bad idea to get a top 5-8 pick next year and go FA shopping to fill in the holes they need to.I don't think this year is going to be a winning one for the Vikings, the division is very tough and while we have made improvements, it is next year where the dead money from Kirk and Hunter comes off the cap and real splashes can be made in free agency.
Throw Darnold out there with the best weapons that he's had in his career and hope he can swim. If he can't, You're probably going to see JJ in week 6 or 7.

This is a bit off base. If you have the greatest QB of all time sure you can get by without a legit #1. But that's not going to happen again in NE and in today's game you absolutely do need a true #1 WR.Is that a bad thing? How many of the Pat's Lombardis were because, "thank god we had (_______) at WR" or without him we lose and he is a true #1 WR.

How is O'Connell already on the hot seat?Unless of course if you like being an NFL GM and coach. Vikes pick in the 5-8 spot this year and the chances of both the GM and coach having their jobs at this time next year are slim and none.

He went 20-14 in his first 2 seasons and after letting KC go the FO has to know they rebuilding after signing Darnold and drafting McCarthy.
I would be surprised if he gets fired. They went 7-10 last year. Now people are projecting another 5-7 win season (that is what it would take to get into the top 10 like you are saying).
How many coaches dont get fired after 2 back to back 3 games under 500 seasons? Very, very, very, very few is the answer.
Its why teams dont do complete strip downs in the NFL very often. Its all about "competitive rebuilds". You lose 2 season in a row in the NFL and its not often you have a job anymore. Nature of the beast.
And remember....they made the decision to let go of Cousins. If they have a losing season because of it, it isnt a excuse....it was their choice and a choice that will look poor if they have a bad season.
If Cousins plays like he has played his whole career in ATL while JJ and Darnold are so bad that they cant win this roster, it is a huge black eye for definitely the GM but also the coach. One might survive it.....but both wont. It just matters which guy is better at throwing the other under the bus for the reason the team failed again this season (if that is what happens).

Now, if they struggle in McCarthy's 2nd season? Yes.
Zimmer lasted 8 seasons and only had like 3 really good seasons.
Good. A key objective of the NFL's salary cap is to prevent teams dominating for long periods of time through stockpiling talent....After they pay Dak and CeeDee along with Parsons they are looking at a pretty thin roster for the other 50 players.
I’d argue it’s actually the opposite. It wants to make it hard for all but team with the top QB’s, the most efficient of all contracts almost definitionally. Which decade of the salary cap era had no dynasties?Good. A key objective of the NFL's salary cap is to prevent teams dominating for long periods of time through stockpiling talent.
It wasn't their choice. It was Cousins' choice to sign for the Falcons....And remember....they made the decision to let go of Cousins. If they have a losing season because of it, it isnt a excuse....it was their choice and a choice that will look poor if they have a bad season...
The salary cap isn't there to stop teams from being good or becoming dynasties. Superior coaching, tactical decision making, and scouting can overcome financial constraints. That's the point. The salary cap is there to prevent teams from maintaining a 'Dream Team' level of veteran superstars.I’d argue it’s actually the opposite. Most of it is good negotiating along the way. The business model is there for all to see.The salary cap isn't there to stop teams from being good or becoming dynasties.
