Hey wait a minute. We were afraid of spending a low rd pick on La el Collins because he was MENTIONED not convicted in a murder case. Now we sign Galette which I am okay with his signing. But my point here is I thought we were so BIGGGGGG ON Character issues here.

We didnt take Collins because there was a real chance if drafted he would sit out the season and try to come back in 2016 draft. As far as why we didnt make him an offer as a UDFA... no idea what Scot was thinking on that one.

As far as Galette and suspension goes, the 2013 video thing there was no police report so it really does come down to a case of... dude it wasnt me.

As for the DV case, I dont think it holds much water considering that the state dropped their case for a lack of credibility from the person he supposedly abused.

As I said all week I'm fine with this move. I was just pointing out the hypocrisy that is rampant around the league. For years the Steelers and their fans preened that they don't tolerate knucklehead behavior. They are quick to cut a special teams linebacker if he acts up. But when your star QB sexually assault a woman they stand behind him 100%.

Not sure it's an indictment of Murphy, more so an opportunity to sign a very productive pass rusher. We all know Murphy is not a great pass rusher and the rookie will need time.

Bingo!!!!!! that's what I am taking about and you can include the HYPOCRISY also
Look if I don't draft him, I at least would have given him 3 yr's at 1.5 mil as UDFA. He is a first rd or 2nd rd pick who could eventually start or add depth to the OL. We need PR's so I am okay with Galette. I just hope this doesn't come back to haunt us. We will see how this works out. I hope in our favor.

Talent vs the PR hit is the only issue that really matters to the teams willing to sign players with "character Issues" that and a incentive laden contract and you have a Rental Pass rusher just like Dallas with Hardy

I don't think a team in the NFL would pass on young game changing Talent if given the chance at the right $$$$
The NFL is littered with just such Players from way back

Anything else is pure hogwash with no disrespect to the Redskins infamous OL back in the day

thing is, since there was no police report, and the best they can say is it looks like Galette, the NFL has no grounds to base any kind of punishment on for that one.

As for the supposed woman he injured removing her from HIS house.... once again case dropped.

And the last so called damning evidence is traffic infractions, and not even the kind like speeding or driving under the influence.

Now granted the saints taking a cap hit to be rid of him is kind of hard to over look. But wasnt it just a year ago we watched Chip Kelly get rid of his leading Wr because the coach wanted him gone.

Great thread guys. 1st the LAvel Collins draft saga. We should of drafted him in the 7th round. Its a risk yes but it a good risk to take. Its a 7th round pick. With the Galette signing its a big slap in the face to Murphy and Smith. Smith was a high 2nd round pick and was competing to start at OLB. That is not the case anymore. Plus the organization was hyping up Murphy all off-season. But our team still signs a bad character guy. Granted its a great contract but I didn't thing SM was like that.

I hope Scherff works out. I still cant believe we passed on Williams. Plus if Collins works out with the Cowboys its another strike against SM as a GM. But Galette and Kerrigan do seem nasty as OLB's. Don't get me wrong I like the move but SM is playing games when he says he only signs high character guys.

Excellent question. Haven't seen any offset info as of yet. And the fact remains that Galette could very well be suspended for some games this year.
