I've been reading some projections on Doctson, and a lot of them compare him to Jordan Matthews and view him as a #2 WR. Huh?! I'd say that I'd be pretty disappointed if he "lived up to" those projections.

If only these same people who can see in the future would put their talents to the lottery. They'd be much better served.

if the 21st pick overall in the draft had 600 or so catches for 6000 or so yards and he was a number 2 wr for 10 years why would i be disappointed in that ? can he be a number one guy ? sure but daggone a team needs a productive number 2 as well

FWIW, He has also been compared to AJ Green, Demaryius Thomas, DeAndre Hopkins, and Allen Robinson. Mathews was a Top 20 WR last year. If Doctson does that his rookie season, I will be thrilled and take that all day long.

Different people will have different opinions on Doctson. I think he was the most well rounded WR in this draft. He has a high ceiling and most importantly a high floor. Is he gonna be Julio Jones or AJ Green in his first couple years?? Probably not. But he could develop into a #1 quickly IMO. I think him and Treadwell were the best options for Cousins and this team. we will see what he can do. Worst case scenario, he should be a solid #2 and a red zone threat. If he works on and improves some things, he could be special.

I think he's got the potential to be an impact #1 WR. I was just surprised to see those projections and why those people though that.

im sure his projections would be off the charts if he would have gone to dallas or the giants or the pats etc etc

I think he'll be a number 1. Not this year obviously but I think he'll be pretty great.

His projections are low because he will be down our offensive options this season. He is a rookie playing behind two veteran WRs...one of which is a game changer and the other is a good two. What makes it worse...they are not even the best receiving threat because of Jordan Reed.

This does lead to a very interesting question though....What happens if he comes in and meets or exceeds all expectations? Will this staff still limit his opportunities because he is a rookie and last man in?

Heck no. Look at Grudens past. Hill came in after a great year from Bernard.

From the bottom of my heart, I hope that I'm wrong about this, but I firmly believe that if JD shows enough promise, either DJax or PG will be getting the A. Morris treatment.

One of those two will probably be gone next year. I'm hoping we can somehow keep D-Jax, who's a game changer even when he doesn't get the ball. And I'm now wondering if Alf will make the Cowboys. They've got Zeke and McFadden and also Lance Dunbar as a change of pace back. Just makes you wonder.

I do believe he does have a high ceiling. I do not believe he will be a #1, right away. That's fine. We have a solid #1 in D-Jax, a good #2 in Pierre Garcon. Not to mention, a trending #3 in Jamison Crowder. Of course, Jordan Reed is the co-#1 receiving option. I believe Doctson is going to be that red zone threat at WR that we've been longing for due to his hands and leaping ability. Of the bunch, I'd bank on Jordan Reed and Doctson being the real redzone threats for us. Of course, both can go up and "get it". The others do not score many TDs. I'm just saying.

I'm just flabbergasted by some draft profiles comparing him to Jordan Matthews and offering comfort to anyone drafting him that he'll be a #2 WR.

This is how I see it as well. It won't be this year baring an injury. But the down the road he could easily become a good #1.
