If it was advanced to Tebow than that is between Tebow and the Broncos. Tebow can pay back that money or the Broncos can suck it up and quit whining. The Jets ain't gonna pay squat I'd bet.

Before the most recent CBA it was a common thing to do with first round picks, and it was always written into the contract that the acquiring team in a trade would reimburse the original team.

Somehow it's the Broncos fault the Jets didn't read the contract?

The Broncos are allowing Tebow to pick the team he wants to play for. Jags or Jets.

Now Schef is saying the Broncos will do a trade that is best for their franchise. LOL.

I was thinking that Tim Tebow would have been a good fit for the 49ers (I am not trolling). Harbaugh has the personality that could mold Tebow into an excellent quaterback. You did resign Smith though (the only hitch to the plan). Hopefully see you in the playoffs (Lions fan)

Wonder what the comparisons are with Steve Young, another running lefty QB. Looking at the first two seasons

Young Tebow
Ages 24-25 23-24
Games 19 23
Attempts 501 353
Compl 267 167
Comp/% 53.3% 47.3%
Yards 3217 2383
TD 11 17
INT 21 9
Yd/Att 6.42 6.75
QBRating 61.7 75.1
Rush/Att 114 165
Rush/Yds 658 887
Yds/Att 5.77 5.37

Of course, Young played for the absolutely horrible Tampa Bay Bucs. Still, the numbers are comparable. And under Walsh's watchful eye, Young developed into a pretty stellar QB. Not saying Tebow is the second coming of #8, but the stats hold up pretty well as a comparison.

Personally, I think it is beyond stupid for Tebow to go to the Jets. Although there are rumors that is not going to happen?

:burt: to comparing Young and Tebow.

Don't forget Jimmy Raye was Steve Young's Offensive Coordinator in Tampa.

Mike Klis:

Exact: Jets to reimburse Broncos $2.53 mill. Jags offered a 4th. Jets enabled Broncos to move up 40-some picks from late 7th to mid-6th.

Well, both were pretty bad to start their careers, and Young turned out to be a fine QB. Tebow is a year younger than Young was his first two NFL years, are you saying there is absolutely no chance for him to develop?

Just because Young started out bad and turned out good doesn't mean Tebow will. I can name infinitely more QB's who started out bad and stayed that way.

I don't ever see him leading a real NFL offense.

Granted that the career paths may diverge. And yet, just to be contrary, the same criticisms leveled against Tebow were leveled against Young early in his career. Ran too much. Didn't go through his progressions. Too reckless. Poor throwing motion. Inaccurate passer.

Though both are/were stellar athletes, and came from winning college programs.

All I have done is compare their first two years. No conclusions were drawn, other than many people were wrong about Steve Young. Might we also be wrong about Tebow? Not predicting, mind you, just asking if it could be a possibility.

I have no idea whether Tebow will be a bust or HOF material. Most seem to have him destined for a bust.

Bottom line, he's not a 49er, so I won't waste more ink on him here.

Why? We need :pray2: in NY. Oh Lord I already get way too many NY games, this will intensify the media circus out here - and prior to Monday, I didn't think that was even possible.

Bingo, I live in NYC too. I was talking to people at work tonight and was trying to explain how awful the media is going to be with this. The three weeks of Linsanity almost made me shoot myself. I can only imagine what it will be like with Tebow here. Thank god for the NFL Package.

Jags offered a 4th and $5M.

Mort said on Twitter that Tebow did get to choose and he chose the Jets. Very interesting if true. It is amazing how details get twisted and things get reported incorrectly so often. Before this off-season I treated everything these guys said as gospel.

JLC just said he's skeptical that Tebow got to choose his team. Quite the fucking mystery.

Aldon could've been DROY.... cause it wasn't like he didn't nearly break the rookie sack record on limited snaps or anything... nah....

So when the Broncos don't make the playoffs, Elway is still praised?

Impossible. Manning is good for 6 wins by himself. Turner is good for 7 losses by himself. The Broncos could go 7-9 in that craptastic division and still make the playoffs next year.
