I'd say he is better than Shark. He's made 32 starts and pitched at least 195 innings in 4 straight seasons and his 3.66 ERA in 2015 was the first time it's been over 3.25 in seasons where he's pitched at least 50 innings. If he stays healthy for the Tigers I'll say it looks like a good deal, maybe a bit of an overpay but a lot of players get overpaid.

Don't get me wrong I like Zimm.

I just think the rebuilt arm, his decrease velocity, and coming to the AL are flags and JS at 90 million was a great deal for a pitcher that is very close in ability.

Yup, more consistent anyways. I think Shark's K/rate and velocity overhype him a bit compared to his actual #'s, but he should do well pitching in AT&T.

I watched nearly every start he made this past season. his stuff isn't all that great but he is durable. he has to have crazy control to be effective. he had a crazy month around the all star break where he was locating and almost unhittable. he sucked the rest of the season when his control wasn't pin-point

That may be...but Zimmerman is already showing velocity decline and he's already had one TJ surgery with mechanics that lean towards more problems.

And my above post has more to do with Zimmerman ? then Scrabble effectiveness. I'm not sold on Scrabble and my initial reaction to hearing the Giants signed him was to cringe. I just don't trust Zimmerman's elbow to hold up. If Zimmerman was willing to sign a shorter contract, I would have been more apt to want the Giants to go after him. But a 5-6 yr deal for a guy whose elbow is already being held together with bubble gum and push pins? Yikes.
