That's a fair point, but Luck was IT for the franchise -- it was all on his shoulders -- but I agree that Wilson and Kaepernick had the pressure of the expectation that they had playoff caliber teams -- for Kaepernick especially his team had been to the NFC Title Game the year before, so anything less than a Super Bowl appearance would have been a disappointment. As to your earlier post, I don't know how to respond to that, the fact is that Luck inherited the worst team in football and with really no other good additions led them to a playoff berth -- and again he didn't have an O-line to protect him, and no running back to take the pressure off -- Luck on either the 49ers or the Seahawks would have been extraordinary. Now all that being said I think that after one season you can't really tell how any of these quarterbacks are going to turn out -- I think Kaepernick has the opportunity to be really special since he has some unique physical gifts to go along with his work ethic and smarts as well as an excellent quarterback coach in Harbaugh and Roman, but I could be wrong.

It is kind of short sighted to say he took the worst team and turned them into 11-5. They were 10-6 the season before. It was more like Curtis Painter ruined a good team, then Luck put them back on track. I am not denying Luck is good, I just don't see how doing less with less makes him better than the other three. As far as I am concerned he had the fourth best season of these quarterbacks. Maybe he would have been great on the 9ers or Hawks, but I don't know because he wasn't.

I think that 2011 Colts team also had to deal with the distraction (as much as I hate to use that word with an injury, that's what it was) of the Peyton Manning situation and wasn't necessarily behind Painter 100% because they thought maybe Manning would make it back a few different times. Remember it seemed like we'd hear talk about a possible comeback date for Manning every week for most of the season? I'm not saying Painter would have led them to a much better record without all the Manning stuff going on, but I don't think it helped that team to have that in the back (or the front) of their minds every week.

Well he did less than Kaepernick because he didn't get his team to the SuperBowl. But he also still ran a much more pass happy offense as a rookie.

I have not read the entire thread, but I will say this about Luck vs. the others.

I am all about actual production. Last year RG3, Wilson, and Kaep all outperformed Luck. Luck was grouped into (by numbers) Ryan Tannehill and Jake Locker.

I don't buy into the whole "he carried the team" or "he had no talent around him" crap. The Colts are (were) a better team than people give them credit for. By no means were they a great team but they basically tanked to get Luck the year before. He got big passing numbers last year because of the scheme where they basically abandoned the run game and made him a version of Matthew Stafford (big yards, INTs, mediocre QB rating).

That being said, Luck has all of the potential in the world and could become a great QB. It just that based on his performance so far (last year) he was not as great as all of these people seem to think he was.

His coaching staff is re-doing the offense to have him do 3 step drops instead of the 4-5 steps he took last year. This theoretically should cut down on his gunslinger INT numbers. If it does then he will take it to the next level. If it does not then it could be a harbringer of a serious weakness to his game.

Also, the Colts played an extremely weak schedule last year. That could be a problem as they have a tougher Strength of Schedule this year.

I am so sick of hearing about Andrew Luck. Yes, he didn't have much to work with. But he played one of the weakest schedules in the league and basically looked average tmost of the time. The only reason his QBR was so great is because he consistently let bad teams hang around with turnovers and had to pull rabbits out of his ass to close things out. And listening to people talk about how he carried a Stanford team that was obviously loaded when he was there was nauseating. Why don't people wait until he actually puts up good numbers before rating him so high, because all I hear is excuses for why some pretty average (at best) numbers are so great.

Welcome gohusk! A new member. Why don't you tell us a little bit about yourself.

It's just badgohusk. I was gohusk, then I got banned from espn for a graphic Roethlisberger remark so I created badgohusk, and now I'm just going back to gohusk here. Hopefully this doesn't turn into the same shitshow that the espn board turned into. And hopefully stu shows up. That guy was the biggest die-hard fan on that board.
