The USA Basketball Men's U18 National Team was announced early Sunday morning following the team's ninth practice since June 5, and Tennessee rising sophomore Jarnell Stokes made the 12-man roster.

Featuring some of the nation's top 18-year-old and younger players, the USA team will compete in the 2012 FIBA Americas U18 Championship, which will be played June 16-20 in Sao Sebastiáo do Paraiso, Brazil. The U.S. team will continue to train through June 11 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo., and will depart June 12 for Brazil. Players eligible for this competition must have been born on or after Jan. 1, 1994.

Tennessee's Jarnell Stokes scored 19 points and grabbed eight rebounds to help power USA Basketball's Men's U18 National Team to a 105-42 preliminary-round win over the U.S. Virgin Islands Saturday at the FIBA Americas Championships in Brazil.

A rising sophomore from Memphis, Tenn., Stokes started for the U.S. squad and shot 7-of-9 from the field while also logging three assists, one block and one steal in 21 minutes of action. He was 5-of-8 from the free-throw line.

Stokes totaled eight points and four rebounds in the first quarter alone.

The Americans, who employed a stifling press, held a 48-24 lead at the half while also enjoying a 34-15 halftime rebounding advantage. For the game, the Americans out-rebounded USVI 64-30.

Rising Tennessee sophomore Jarnell Stokes contributed seven points, three rebounds, one assist and one steal in 14 minutes Sunday as Team USA Routed Mexico 110-59.

The win advances Team USA to 2-0 at the FIBA Americas U18 Championship, held in Sao Sebastiáo do Paraiso, Brazil.

Next up for the United States men is host Brazil. The winner of the USA-Brazil clash will claim preliminary round Group A's No. 1 seed for the medal round semifinals.

he USA Basketball Men's U18 National Team improved to 3-0 at the 2012 FIBA Americas U18 Championship Monday, as Tennessee rising sophomore Jarnell Stokes logged a team-high 22 points and eight rebounds during an 83-64 win over Brazil in Sao Sebastiáo do Paraiso, Brazil.

A native of Memphis, Tenn., Stokes shot 11 of 14 from the floor, and the Americans shot 50 percent overall in the victory.

The USA will face 2-1 Argentina, second place finishers in Group B, in the 5 p.m. ET semifinal game. Canada (3-0) earned Group B No. 1 seed and will face host Brazil in the other medal round semifinal contest at 8 p.m. ET.

Stokes, Team USA to Play for Gold Wednesday

Utilizing superior depth and balanced scoring that included another heavy dose of Tennessee power forward Jarnell Stokes, the Team USA downed Argentina 107-72 Tuesday at the FIBA Americas U18 Championship in Brazil.

Stokes started and finished with 11 points on 5-of-8 shooting while also adding five rebounds and a steal in 17 minutes of action.

The win, which featured all 12 U.S. players scoring, including seven in double figures, improved the USA's record to 4-0 and advanced the Americans into Wednesday's gold medal game.

The gold medal contest will be a rematch of Monday's USA-Brazil game (Team USA claimed an 83-64 victory). Brazil advanced to the gold medal game after handing Canada its first loss of the tournament by a 66-62 margin Tuesday.

U.S. Beats Brazil; Stokes Captures Gold

The USA Men's U18 National Team defeated host Brazil 81-56 Wednesday to claim the gold medal at the 2012 FIBA Americas Championship. Tennessee's Jarnell Stokes had 11 points and four rebounds in the win.

A rising sophomore power forward from Memphis, Tenn., Stokes started all five of Team USA's games at the championship, averaging 14.0 points and 5.6 rebounds in 20.2 minutes per game. The team's second-leading scorer, he was remarkably efficient offensively, shooting .689 from the field.

Stokes is the second Vol to help lead the United States to gold at this event (formerly known as the Junior World Championship Qualifier), as UT's all-time leading scorer, Allan Houston, starred on the American gold-medal squad in Uruguay in 1990.

The USA, which averaged 97.2 points a game during the championship while winning its five contests by an average of 38.6 points a game, received scoring from 11 of its 12 players Wednesday.
