Does it hurt us in the least if they do?
How do you know that either will?
does it hurt us ? no but that isnt the issue . why make an offer you know has no chance of being accepted ? why write it up ? why waste the oxygen to deliver it ? it is foolish ?
if a team wants jackson they will go get him and pay him . the low ball offer might be your only shot and you dont waste it with a goofball offer
and if you think jackson is worth only 4 mil , no guarantees and its incentive laiden over an unproven charge of gang relations , no arrests related to that activity and the common charge of work ethic then you need to wake up because he wont sign that contract
either you want the player or you dont and you dont go in half assed thinking that is enough
jets have no interest now I'm hearing raiders ,skins bucs, teams like the jets and raiders can easily out bid us
How do you know what other teams will offer? That's my question. Don't you have people who are actually there to write up contracts on salary? What's wrong with asking them to earn their money or do you think they are just entitled to it?
He will sign the contract if it's his best offer. If it's not, who gives a shit?
If you want a player, you weigh his value to the organization...you don't just go pay him...that's stupid and that's what we did with Haynesworth...that is Cerrato thinking...yay...shiny name...get him, get him...we'll pay you 100 million dollars and guarantee your fat ass 40 million dollars.
If your value of the player is close to other offers, they will counter and if the counter is acceptable, you take it. It's called a contract negotiation for a reason.
Somebody will sign him but he won't see the money he is wanting, especially in guarantees. He hasn't technically done anything wrong so somebody will hope for the best.
I cant believe they want Jackson. What if he wants 6-8 million a year? Can we afford that?
We can easily afford 8-10 million/season for Jackson. I don't see for a second him getting 10 mil/season when PHI just cut him for that after giving him guaranteed money.
I'd offer him 4 mil...I'd do 5 mil...I'd consider up 7 mil...everything depends on guaranteed money to me.
