More so than ever BPA. at 34 (if we stay there), there are going to be impact players available, wether its WR, ILB, CB, RT or S, we should be able to pick up a stud.

you think we will be able to draft an ILB at 34?

Not if we stay at 34. I think Mosley will be gone, but if he is there we should take him. The next 2 or 3 ILB candidates are more late 2nd early 3rd round prospects, too much of a reach at 34.

I've been reading how ILB is almost like RB. NFL teams just don't value the position...look at the pay for these guys...comparatively it's not valued.

Mosely may be available so.

I think certain positions become like fads..if a Ray Lewis comes along all of a sudden MLB becomes vogue again. I would love to get a Big Tall, Smart MLB.. Lavon Kirkland type but maybe a little more athletic, you get the point though. Got to be tall enough to disrupt the passing lanes.

There is a lot of truth to this Blunt. The importance of positions also change as the scheme changes. With the popularity growing of tall, fast, receiving TEs, athletic ILBs will become more important. Offenses are moving toward quick, 3 step drops which make these TEs a major target. Defenses will have to adjust by employing LBs that can stay with and defend these TEs while also being able to roam sideline to sideline chasing a RB.

I wasn't comparing the talent level of Macklin and Cooper. I was just comparing the contracts that they got. I know Jackson is better but we are paying for it. I guess we signed him this morning. Britt went to the Rams. lol. I guess he knew he was screwed when the showed interest in Jackson. I cant wait to see the Jackson deal. I hope its something like the deal Decker got from the Jets.

No Action Jackson, no Silverback... guess will see who this kid Cousins is next few weeks. Actually we should kno by now. Top ten QB who could start for 20 teams in the league. Back to DJax... even though he has been somewhat invisible this year the importance of him on the team is immeasurable. I don't think I need to go into specifics on why. I thought heading into the season he wouldn't be back next year because of Doctson but now with a potential bust looming he may be extremely valuable to retain. However, with potential KC contract looming also... will we be able too. However, I've never was a cap guy.. player personality and teammate like-ability have always been my specialty in determining worth, but I do know this... he's better for us on the field rather than off. He'll be missed.

The question is why and who's fault it is.

the importance of him on the team is immeasurable.

It certainly showed last year. This year, I guess it has been to an extent. Even if he isn't putting up numbers/making plays he does have to be accounted for when he's on the field.

At this pt I could take or leave having Jackson on the team next season. I think that with the continued development of Cousins & the O line this team is getting to the pt where the other positions are interchangeable & they have enough talent beyond Jackson to be effective.

Garcon had a good game yesterday & is still effective & IMO would be willing to work a cap friendly deal much more than Jackson. Assuming that Docston returns & is effective this still gives the Redskins plenty of good targets & this could be helped even more by adding a quality RB.

Not really worried at all if Jackson does not return next season (& would not be unhappy if he did return).

I am souring on DJ too but I would still put an offer out there. I wouldn't roll out the 8 mil/season I mentioned ed earlier in the year but 5 isn't out of the question.

Any one else wondering if Kirk and this style of WCO really needs an outside speed receiver to be effective?

Especially since Kirk is at his best with short to intermediate throws and play action.

Seems an efficient running game and strong TE/slot play lends itself to Kirk's strengths more than the deep threat at this point.

I agree. I love what DJax brings to the table as a game breaker. But his injury history is becoming worrisome. I think depending on the $$$ that both will want, I would prefer Garçon. He is more reliable from an injury standpoint and his strengths fit KC a little bit more.

Keim on DJax or Garçon

Another guy who reminded all of what he can do: receiver Pierre Garcon. If you had to pick between either him or Jackson to re-sign for next year, I’d go with Garcon. I love Jackson’s speed and the threat he provides. But I worry about investing for, say, three more years in a player who might not hold up. Garcon will probably have the same level of effectiveness in three years, or at least be close. He also provides a level of toughness few others do at receiver. Another factor: If you’re not going to be much of a downfield team, you must have players who fit your style. Garcon does. He’s excellent on inside-breaking routes, which is where he creates separation, not on go routes. Garcon excels at selling a route one way and breaking the other. But he also makes the tough catches. The question here is: Has Garcon been frustrated enough to simply want out?

I think there is a couple of reasons why DJax has been invisible this year. First, he just isn't on the field enough. Second, this offense isn't designed to attempt many long balls, DJax's speciality. Finally, KC is not a great deep ball thrower (possibly a reason for the second point above). Its not that he doesn't have the arm strength, he just doesn't have to touch on those passes like, well, RG3 did. Almost every QB has throws they do well and throws they don't. That happens to be his weakness.

I'm interested in seeing if Reed has another two catch game if Jackson is out Sunday night. Not saying one has anything to do with the other, but I do want to see if a trend develops.
