Jets are looking at trading Sanchez, and letting Tebow go in the offseason.

Not sure McElroy is who they are going to look to in order to save the franchise.

I bet the Jets go after Michael Vick in the offseason after the Eagles release him before all his bonuses and salary kick in.

Because they need someone with a name to draw fans back next year after they draft their next franchise QB. Jets will give him a 1 or 2 year deal to start and then become the backup potentially. The Jets are in a win now mode all teh time, so it would not surprise me at all to see them go after the biggest free agent name QB this offseason, even if Vick is a little washed up.

I believe the Jets will simply just draft a QB in the first round.

After failing compatibility in the Tebow experiment, They might bring in some "safe" vet to assist in the transition.
Rex Grossman?

Vick is not in good shape, and its showing.
some folks just don't age well, and all the hits of being a hybrid QB/RB are taking its toll.

The Jets want to play it safe now.

Wouldn't someone want Kirk Cousins? He's never going to start in Washington, as he's blocked by RGIII. When he got a chance because of injury he delivered the goods. He should want to go somewhere he could get a chance to start, and the Skins could probably get a couple of decent picks for him.

One game wasn't much of a test. What happened to the QB Flynn from Green Bay? Didn't he go to Seattle or something in FA? I have not heard about him at all, and all he did was put up like 400-500 yards with 5-6 TD's against Detroit last year.

1 game is not much of a test. Besides, not sure Washington would move a decent young, cheap backup QB when you have a QB that runs around a lot and is goign to take a pounding in this league, even if he is all-pro. Better always have a backup QB ready for this running QB's.

If Oakland lets Carson go, he'd be a viable candidate. Same with Smith if he's let go or traded from SF. If neither is available, they'll probably go with whoever it is starting now. In any of the stated cases, they probably draft a QB this season.

Didn't think of Alex Smith, that is a good point with him.

I doubt Oakland lets Palmer go, as they need some kind of return on investment. They have not even given us our 2nd pick yet to justify letting Palmer go.

It isn't like Palmer is terrible, but he certainly is not going to do much in Oakland if they do not surround him with talent. Palmer is not the type of guy that can elevate the play of everyone around him like a Brady or Manning, but he is decent if he has talent around him. Oakland has to start with that offensive line. If Palmer has no time to throw the ball, he is going to force too much and he is going to continue to get picked off at a ridiculous clip.

Alex Smith may be a good option, maybe even better than Vick.

Good point.

I also think Palmer is an option. I think the Raiders will go young and Carson will want a chance to start.

Matt Flynn or Kirk Cousins would be interesting -- They would require a high draft pick though.

I had begun thinking the same thing about Carson, but reports since came out that they're still high on him. Plus, I don't think they have any faith in Pryor considering he only received 1 snap last game. But it is still a possibility they outright release him since they lack talent across the board.

Didn't Flynn sign a multi-year deal? The cap hit would have to be massive to release him after one season.

All said and done, this is not a good year to be looking for a QB.

What, you don't like Matt Cassell?

Alex Smith would be perfect for the Jets, so it will never happen, lol.

Carson is still highly thought of in this league I guess. But what's left for him? He'll be back in Oakland again next season. he's not getting the blame.

There's also the Shaub/TJ Yates thing.

TJ Yates impressed some people, there were even people claiming he should have been drafted before Dalton last year.

Think back to SF Smith pre-Harbaugh.

Sanchez does suck, but overall they really do not have much talent on that offense.

Yates did look impressive. But so did Flynn on the Packers and Cassel on the Patriots. Didn't Mallet drop 50 points in a preseason game?

I can't say any of those guys in their "heydey" are/were better than Dalton. Playing on a stacked team can do wonders for a QB, but weaknesses are only exposed over time. We've seen Daltons. We've seen Cassels. Flynn didn't even give us an opportunity to see his before he was benched. And I'm sure Yates has plenty of them as well.

If the Jets want to start afresh, the draft is the way to go. Flynn or Yates probably aren't the answer, nor is it worth risking finding out. If they want experience, then they should invest in Smith or Carson, assuming availability.

I think the difference between Flynn and Cousins is that Flynn played in garbage time, because the packers just wanted to rest their starter with their situation already clinched, while Cousins produced when the starter was hurt and the team was chasing the playoffs. Totally different scenarios.

Cousins was also highly thought of coming out of college -- Not a first rounder, but some scouts thought he should have been picked in the second. It should also be noted that Cousins didn't have half the talent that Flynn did. That said, it was only one game.... But quarterback is such an important position, he might have dramatically raised his stock. This might be a really solid move by the Redskins - They could basically trade a 4th round pick for a 2nd round pick within the span of a year.

Flynn played in that last game, you would call it garbage time, but Detroit was playing for a better spot in the playoffs weren't they? They had all their regulars out there and they were lighting the jointy up on offense, so Flynn did that with his regulars against Detroits defensive regulars.

Also, Washington may be able to flip a once forth round pick into a 2nd this year, but why would they? They have no other backup, Cousins is good, young and very cheap and under team control. There is zero reason to do it, because they will have to draft or sign another quarterback this offseason and probably wouldn't be half the player. With a QB like RG3, he is bound to get hurt during a season with as much as he scrambles and his size.

Washington would do that because they don't have a 1st rounder the next 2 years. So they trade a guy who may play or may not so they can build around their QB of the future.
