huh - so if this cap penalty on existing deals is correct (some version of: cap savings over deal amortized over final years of deal), then wade Redden would cost $6.5 million to play for the Rangers, or a $5.6m cap hit to play in the minors.

If reports are true hypothetically if Preds traded Weber after 6 yrs & he retired with 1 yr left NAS would get $32.9 mil cap hit in 2025-26.
