Garage League
I understand the whole "voting with your wallet" thing, and I don't disagree with it. I personally am going to hit up some of my favorite bars near Consol for a bunch of games and probably will only go to a few games at the arena. But I don't think you are personally winning by denying yourself something you love completely (not even watching on TV). It's not a different brand of peanut butter here. It's a game that most of us grew up loving, supporting teams that are a part of our identity, and bonding with friends and family over the ups and downs of season after season.
It's the only brand of peanut butter there is in N. America. That is the point I'm trying to make.
The US gov't would protect the NHL's broadcasting rights if another 'Pro' league tried to form out of a situation that just took place like a lockout, or a strike. They have no competition. With that freedom to do what they wish, you can see what the result is.
If people don't show their displeasure with their wallets, there really is no one else to hold them accountable for their actions. They need to feel results from their actions.
I agree about the love of hockey, and sports. It's a wonderful thing. At the same time, the money and power it creates could also be wielded with a little more grace instead of greed.
