Looks like opposing coaches have a book on the Mark Banker pass defense and they all share it. 119th in the country.
Only three teams have had 90 or more passes attempted against them. Tennessee, Rutgers, and Nebraska. Each of those teams is 1-1.
You would think that teams that are thrown against all the time, would lead in sacks. Nope.
All three of those teams averages 2.5 sacks per game, tied for 37th. Nebraska has the least amount of yards per sack of those three teams.
Nebraska had a pretty good pass defense the last seven seasons. Something tells me the Mark Banker pass defense scheme is not very good.
2014 Oregon State allowed 2977 passing yards, record 5-7
2013 Oregon State allowed 3202 passing yards, record 7-6
2012 Oregon State allowed 2919 passing yards, record 9-4
2011 Oregon State allowed 2573 passing yards, record 3-9
2010 Oregon State allowed 2738 passing yards, record 5-7
2009 Oregon State allowed 3056 passing yards, record 8-5
2008 Oregon State allowed 2352 passing yards, record 9-4
That is 46-42, with three losing seasons. Every season had four or more losses, four seasons had six or more losses.
Not exactly sure what this all means, but if Nebraska only rushes four guys, gives the QB all day to pass, looks like Nebraska is on pace to give up around 4,000 yards for the season.
BTW, this pass defense is a lot like Indiana. Too bad Nebraska and Indiana don't meet. We would be able to determine which team is better or worse. Indiana went 4-8 and 5-7 the last two years.
Okay, Okay. Nebraska is a passing team. Miami is 5th in pass defense and averages 3.5 sacks per game, against scrubs though. But, if Miami's pass defense is for real, looking at opening the season 1-2.
But......what does Oregon State have anything to do with Nebraska?
