I'm sure the kicker will be at the top of Pace's list once the offseason comes along. Now isn't the time.

Maybe they're still checking the width of the goalposts at Soldier field...

Don't want to send the wrong message. I'm not happy with the missed field goal.

But kicker discussions are like QB discussions imo. You may have a guy you don't like, but the pool is shallow for getting a better one.

If memory serves, coming into 2018, Parkey was one of the most accurate kickers available in free agency.

So does Pace take a chance on an unproven rookie? Would that give fans a better feeling when the game is on the line? (Worked for Fairbairn. Not so much for Aguayo.)

Or what if cutting Parkey just turns out to be a Robbie Gould deja vu, and we see him tear it up for another team?

Question remains, who replaces Parkey?

Oh...The what if game? Well, what if he's Scott f*cking Norwood the season after?

Man, I go out of town for a few days and all hell breaks loose!! Sad to Fangio go, but he deserves a shot at being a HC. And going to Denver is cool with me. This way I can root for him to succeed (unless of course we play the Broncos in next year's Super Bowl). Can you imagine if he took the Packers spot?????????????????????????????????????????????

Parkey was horrific this season and not mentally strong enough to overcome a slump. Do I think he'll suddenly bounce back from an even bigger mental/emotional obstacle now and be reliable next year? No, I do not.

The problem with cutting him is that we paid him pretty handsomely and the cap hit would hurt.

I would be happy with trying to find the next good young kicker. We've cycled in veteran after veteran for too long now. Barth, Santos, Nugent... let's go young and fresh.

Maybe you do that and have him compete with Parkey in camp/pre-season 2019. That seems most likely.

Kicker is such a mental position. As an FSU fan, I look at Roberto Aguayo who was one of the most accurate college kickers of all time... Near the end of his tenure at FSU he started missing a bit more than usual, but the Bucs still drafted him, and then he went total trainwreck in the NFL...

I always think that its just a matter of time with kickers to get back into a groove. Parkey hit three other FGs but the glaring miss at the end sticks out of course...

I don't know if this becomes one of those Rick Ankiel things where they never quite get right, or if Parkey is permanently broken...

I feel like the "practice shot" he got fucked with him. If you go back and look, the first one wasn't exactly good by a mile. Down the middle, sure...but short. It didn't even make the netting. I think he tried to play the wind too much (Hence the left direction right off the bat) AND I think he was worried he'd leave it short, so he line drove it. I have my doubts as to whether it would've been good, even without the tip.

$15 million, with $9 million guaranteed....quickly makes me lose every ounce of sorry I have for him. Led the league in missed kicks. Fuck him. No way he's a Bear next year. They'd have to put a mustache disguise on him and change his name to Kadee Porkey.

I kept saying that myself......It took a while before anyone even thought it got tipped.....Even in Parkeys interview,he never made the excuse it got tipped......

So when highlites came out,I would rewind it and play it frame by frame and to me the ball seemed to have the same rotation.......But if it did get tipped,it got tipped a by just a miniscule to where I believe it was not gonna make it anyways...

Oh well it's done over now and Parkey should have been given walking papers by now,not just for the miss Su day,but for as you stated, leading the league in missing the most fgs......

This x10

Did you notice how when they iced him at the end of the first half, O'Donnell put the ball down and he simply swept his leg to the side of it? He elected not to touch that one.

Then at the end of the game - they ice again and he takes the full kick towards the uprights. I actually noticed this at the time it happened, but obviously... you don't think something like that is noteworthy at that point in time. The real kick had yet to come and if he hits that (which, as an NFL kicker you're expected to from 43) no one ever brings this detail up.

I feel like you have to maintain a philosophy with that. Gould use to always say "Please, ice me. I want that practice shot. Especially in a windy venue like Soldier Field." That doesn't have to be every kicker's philosophy. However, I think you need to have some kind of mental approach. Not just "Eh, no thanks" one kick. Then "Yeah, fuck it - I'll take a swing" the next.

I watched extreme slow-mo close-ups of the so called "block". Look... it grazed his fingertips. However, that ball continued without even a HINT of a hesitation end-over-end with the exact same trajectory. Parkey missed that kick

Robbie Gould was a nobody off the streets. Not to say it's guaranteed we find a good kicker right from college but it's not unheard of. Look at that dude in San Diego too, he's killing it.

Some newbie college fan was on here the other day, saying we had some stud from his alma mater on our practice squad??

Same here, like about 10xs myself......It was so close that if he did tip that, there was not so much of a finger flinch......Ya,he was gonna miss it anyways.....

I'd felt a lot better knowing he actually did tip it than not......
