Then elevate JJ, fire Tadd & Woodchuck & get two vets as bench coaches. Keep LR as happy as he can be. :2cents:

Eh good point. My goldfish could have coached the 2010 Hawks team to a Cup. I just don't know much about the coaches out there to make a nomination. I know I want someone with better motivational skills than Todd, but it's like a chicken and egg thing?
.

I beg to differ... SJ were cup favorites for years and Todd was gifted an all-star team and did nothing with it...

Q is able to adjust on the fly and get his whole roster to produce. when the stars arent scoring, the bottom level guys step up etc... He knows how to match lines and counter line matching and the players enjoy playing for him as well (well except for Shaw lol)

By all star team do you mean, Thornton,Patty, and Nabby, because that was it when he got here. Depth has been a problem for the sharks for the past 5 years at forward and defense, this is season minus injuries was the deepest team theyve ever had. especially when Pavelski was on the 3rd line where he belonged.

Q doesnt really do that much, had he done that Colorado wouldnt have let him go, he got hired by the hawks and they were an all star team minus the goalie at the time.

Id argue that the 08-09 team was the best Sharks team theyve had... They had better forwards & goaltending, the only thing that team was lacking was a 6th dman which they had luko & seminov swaping duties...

Todd McLellan isn't the problem, I think he did a great job this year in the playoffs, especially with our lack of forward depth without Havlat and Torres in the LA series. I'm kind of glad he's going to get another chance next season and hopefully by then, we will have more depth. Sounds like Hertl is going to crack the lineup. Nieto has a chance too.

I think the problem is Doug Wilson. He has failed to build a 3rd and 4th line that could score - the bottom 6 didn't score against the Kings. No secondary scoring whatsoever. He should have acquired a top 6 player at the deadline, they were so desperate to move Burns to forward because our depth flat out sucked.

Larry Robinson made a huge impact, penalty kill was much improved.

Hopefully Havlat gets bought out or traded and that will free up cap space to re-sign Torres.

I really wish Doug Wilson would grow some balls. This team needs to get younger and faster. Thornton, Marleau and Boyle are aging and they will all be free agents next season. We can get some nice pieces in return; rebuild around Couture, Burns, Vlasic, Hertl, Pavelski. The window has closed and DW has some tough decisions to make.

If they are thinking of moving Burns back to D, I think that will be one of the DUMBEST decisions the club ever made... That move is one of the main reasons they made they playoff push, and the guy was an absolute BEAST on O... I cannot stand the guy on D...

Pollak reported that Wilson and the coaches will decide what position Burns will play next year in a week or two. It's probably not information that will be released to the public right away as it could give other GM's or player agents leverage if Wilson is trying to make a trade for dman or sign one via UFA. We might not find out until late in the offseason.

Burns has said he doesn't care what position he plays but he is more comfortable playing defense. McLellan and Wilson both have commented on the organizational depth they believe the Sharks have on defense even with Burns playing forward. From Wilson's comments I'm thinking they are going to keep Burns at forward but I certainly wouldn't be willing to bet any money on it.

Im a Nabby fan but i disagree they had better goaltending,Nabby never adjusted his game to changing style of play. Its why he got burned low and blocker regularly

Yeah, I'd prefer Burns as a forward at least for now. I think it depends if they trade Boyle or not in the offseason.

Should be an interesting off-season.
