traditionally only the high seeds make the FF. yes we have had a lot of cinderella's lately but that is only because d1 was grown to 3x the size it was back in 1986 when the tourny expanded to 64 teams

the new system of 1 & done's is also a factor for that as well

those problems wont extend to a college football playoff

basketball is usually easier for an upset

in the ncaa tournament a team of short white kids could go out and have a great day shooting from 3 and pull an upset, the next game they could get cold and lose.

its not so much the sport being easier to have an upset but

1. there are 435 d1 teams trying to make a field of 68. thats an insane number and increases the chances of "that one out of nowhere team" to make a run

2. cbb cant retain its top players. it makes it harder for dynasties to occur as well as allows for an experienced team beat an inexperienced but talented team like kentucky

dude its not. the cbb system in its true form has most of its games play out by seed until the elite 8. the only difference is that the one & done + rapid expansion of d1 has fucked that up.
