You could argue that Koufax had as good of a 5 year run as any pitcher ever. I'll take Johnson, Gibson and Seaver though. Cy Young and Walter Johnson are obvious candidates as well, but that was a long, long time ago. Cy Young pitched his final game in 1911, and I believe started his career pitching underhand. It was a very different game.

Warren Spahn is in my top three.

For me there has probably never been a pitcher with more talent than Sandy and his five year run from 62-66 is as good as any pitcher in history but to be considered top three you need a larger body of work...

Opinions are always welcome on Sportshoopla. IMO Walter Johnson and Cy Young was too long ago to be even considered. Both Randy Johnson and Greg Maddux were good, but not as good as Koufax. Now maybe Roger Clemens would be close to Koufax. I guess I basing my opinion on Koufax having such a short career.

I'd put Waddell's years with the A's up there with any short stretch in history. And he seldom is given credit for greatness.
