He has to be an elite QB. He won a Super Bowl. You have to have an elite QB to win a Super Bowl. ESPN said so.

That defense was not elite in his rookie year.

Wilson lead game winning drives against Bears and Redskins in the playoffs/

Wilson leads gw drives just about every time he's asked to. Which is often because the Seahawks play a lot of tight games.

No.

Elite is reserved for 4 men right now and you can put them in any order you wish and you wont be wrong:

Manning, Rogers, Brees and Brady.

After that you have two by themselves: Big Ben and Eli.

Wilson is not elite.

Wilson over Manning 1-0, SB beatdown (soon to be 2-0)
Wilson over Rodgers 1-0 (soon to be 2-0)
Wilson over Brees 2-0 (including a playoff win)

Wilson/Brady: TBD.

To me, Elite means top 5, not top 10-15, so not yet, but maybe someday

to me elite has nothing to do with where you rank in a year.

there have been years where there may only be 1 or 2 elite QBs.
Being in the top 5 or top ten in a year doesn't mean people should use elite on the player.

Labeling players elite is way over used!

Wilson is not elite, & no that isn't saying he isn't a good QB or bashing him.

I just disagree with lower the elite bar, for an argument.

The defense just may have had something to do with those outcomes.

Again, the "any decent QB could have the #2 QB rating in history if they had a decent RB" line is really old and really stupid. Where is this proof that people with great RBs have great stats?

Did Barry Sanders or Walter Payton have QBs with stats like Russell? No. AP? No.

When Chris Johnson ran for 2,000 yards, his QB rating must have been great, right? No, it was 65.5.
When LT won the MVP, his QB must have had the best season of his career, right? No, it was actually below River's career average.

Troy Aikman is in the Hall of Fame and had the leading rusher of all-time with an offensive line and receiving corp that put Russell's to shame. Did he have stats like Russell? Outside of one season, No. Russell Wilson's 2nd best season was better than Troy Aikman's 2nd best. And of course, Russell has only had 2 seasons. Was Troy Aikman elite? If so, you can't claim Russell Wilson isn't.

The arguments are stale. But we've heard the all before. We heard them when he was starting at Wisconsin, about how it was all his teammates. They assured us that he didn't have NFL potential. We heard it again after the draft. Sure, his skills look good, but he is too short to ever be an NFL starter. We heard it after he won the job. Sure, he looks great in the preseason, but he's still (to quote ESPN "expert" John Clayton) clearly the worst starter in the league. And again, we heard it after he had the best rookie season since Marino. Sure, he had a good year, but he'll never be able to take the next step.

Here we stand. He's won the Super Bowl. He has the second highest QB rating ever. He's done it with below-average O-Lines and receiving corps. He was #4 in yards per attempt. He was the #3 rusher among QBs. He has been the most accurate deep passer in the league the last two years.

At some point, don't you just want to cut your losses and admit you were wrong?

And speaking of "admitting they were wrong," the OP has zero business posting about QBs until he mans up about his Stave hate. "Fans" like you enabled the result that wrecked my weekend.

Hard to label anyone whose only played two seasons as NFL elite. He's proven he's not a one hit wonder, but it's still hard to slap the elite tag on him yet.

But that being said, his stats since entering the league are ridiculous (100 avg RAT, 26 TDs per season, 3000+ yds per season, 10 INT in 2012 9 INT in 2013) and he's moving towards elite at light speed. What more could you ask for in a NFL QB?

Read my post. That's just in terms of winning games. Statistically he's a top ten QB with the worst pass blocking O-line and pedestrian at best WR's for last season. Defense is good for winning games and if anything running the ball has taken away from him padding his stats.

Teams win games not just QB's. Its not the Seattle Wilson's. Its the Seattle Seahawks. Just saying.

Wilson is elite in terms of his ability to win games.

He's won more games in his first 2 years than any QB in the history of the NFL.

The Seahawks won games not just Wilson. Did he play defense and special teams? Did he call the plays? Watching way to much ESPN and brainwashed like a fool. Just saying.
