He'll never be elite until he figures out route running... and if he hasn't by 27.5, he may never.

All elite receivers in NFL history have been elite or borderline elite route runners. And then of course some with hands, speed, acceleration, jumping, ball contesting, YAC, etc. have gone from there.

DK is average AT BEST at route running, I'd argue it's below average. It's probably his worst attribute and it's a CRITICAL one to be an elite WR.

IF you could give DK even GOOD route running, he'd be a top NFL WR.
The route running thing is my biggest problem with DK. And not because he doesn't seem to learn it but because despite him working so hard on his physical attributes, he seemingly is too lazy to actually become a good route runner. And along with that, will often run extremely lazy routes in the middle of games out of nowhere because of his childish attitude. It annoys the fuck out of me to see anybody, in any trade, half ass shit.

Yep... I think if he really put in the effort he could learn it, but I don't think he wants to.

He mailed it in the second half of the season, seemed extremely lazy, just a 'whatever' attitude, and then his attitude on field, whatever. And hey maybe it was the injury that caused the lack of production 2nd half.. but then that's another reason to say goodbye. It sucks sometimes seeing players like that go, but it's a business. Don't feel obligated to sign em.

What's sad about DK is if he had the work ethic (outside of the gym) he could be a top 5 WR in the league IMO... but he doesn't want to be. I think he's fishing for a huge paycheck at this point and will be a 800 yard to 1K receiver with a 'whatever' amount of TDs, that just disappears in games. Hence why I was fine trading him last year (which would've been correct) and do NOT want to pay him.

COULD he go somewhere else and just light it up? Sure. He's still got 3-4 more years of high quality play in him, but I doubt it. It's lower than 50% probability if I had to put a number on it. I think Seattle sensed that as well... just not the type of discipline and player Mac wants.

I hope so jersey... and someone like the Patriots or Raiders giving up a 2nd (basically a late first) would be great.
Chargers were in talks last season so maybe they get involved again. All I know is Seattle has to move him if they're not going to give him a contract.

I could actually see Denver in the mix... Broncos did far better than expected last year, they have a major offensive coach, and they really have nothing outside of Sutton who is in his final year and going to be 30.

Commanders are another choice as well. Deebo is an UFA after this year and only costing $17M... DK is a longer term answer and with how Jayden can extend plays, prob. a bigger threat there than Seattle. A QB that can extend plays with their feet helps a player like DK with crap route running...

Chargers (to your point) also make sense. Harbaugh made it very clear he wanted to build the trenches, and passed on a LOT of good WRs for the best OT. It worked, but they still need a WR and there's NOTHING real great at where they're drafting.

Lastly, Chiefs MAY be in play... but that could 100% be a 1 year rental... you'd be getting a LATE 2nd AT BEST (they are not giving up a 1st and not extending) and it'd prob. be to hang one more Super Bowl run before having to rebuild. DK would know it's a 1 year rental, but you got a chance with Mahomes/Reid to put up a massive season and then cash in and mope around the next 5 years lol.

I don't see a team like the Raiders/Patriots, etc. trading for him (although that would be great, because their picks are early). DK just doesn't seem like a WR that 'helps' a QB. He quits on plays, runs sloppy routes, has attitude, turns into Cam Newton 2.0... I wouldn't want that with a team that isn't playoff bound. Jayden is young, but he already looks like a star. It wouldn't be about DK in Washington. It's the Jayden show.

Denver is interesting and KC is possible since they really haven't had consistent play at WR since Ty Hill. My feeling is if DK gets moved it'll be before FA opens up.

Raiders have reached out about dk and are also reportedly looking for a starting vet QB as well. Maybe we trade dk and geno to them for a 2nd this year and their 1st next year

I knew Geno was gone! Didn’t expect Pete to go after him, wondering what we’re gonna get? This is very good news and opens up cap space

Honestly Shark, even if he put in the work, I have doubts he would ever be that elite. Maybe if his route running became great, I suppose. But he has never been able to overcome good corners and has always turned that into frustration and losing his cool. He just mentally has never had it. He gets shut down by a Surtain or Stingley or whoever (there are a lot of good ones in the league) and as the game goes on, instead of overcoming it or being willing to suck it up and keep those guys engaged so his team succeeds, he ends up doing something stupid blocking those guys. His PFs were down a bit but only because he didn't get caught as much, imo. He is also really sloppy with the ball trying for yac as we saw a few times last year. Far to many negative plays and not nearly enough great positive plays to be elite.

He's a hard working guy so he's already put in the work imo... It's just not going to translate into him being an elite receiver... Like you said, he's just not elite...
