Two things, Wade gave up $10 million. The $31 million he resigned for versus the $41.6 million he should have gotten had he not opted out of his year deal. That is $10 million. Even after taxes, $6 million is a TON of money for what he has done.

Secondly, he has NEVER been the highest paid player on his team and if he stays, he may end up being the 4th highest come year 2 of his deal.

Wade's camp likely wants 3 years with $45 to $50 million and Riley probably wants three years and $36 million. Ultimately, I think the grown up - Micky Arison steps in and they get something done but it may cost them a big free agent in 2016. We shall see.

3 for 45-50 is fair and reasonable if you consider the projected cap increase.

no need to blow anything up. Dragic, Wade, Deng, Bosh, and Whiteside are a legit team in the East, a real threat to come out of it. Add in Birdman, Chalmers, McRoberts off the bench... then need a better sf/sg and a three point specialist..but if this team can stay healthy, Miami is a real threat in the East as presently constructed. Miami needs to sign Dragic and worry about Wade next offseason, but it seems Wade has other plans.

Real question here... Do you guys honestly think Wade believes at 36 years old (where he will be in 3 years) that he believes he is worth around 17 million dollars a year? He can't honestly believe that, right?

The starting 5 is more then solid.
It's probably the best / most balanced we've ever had?

The start of our bench is also decent.
Hopefully we keep Beasley and as you said find a real solid outside shooter or 2.

Ray Allen comeback?

It is only fair if you want to pay him for his past performances and what he has meant to the franchise. Wade in his current form is not worth that money. It is the same situation as Kobe and the Lakers are in. Lakers chose to pay for legacy.

Maybe the most balanced, but not the best. You just can't go out and get a bunch of guys and think that you are replacing LeBron. You can't really think that this line up is better than Wade, Bosh, Allen, LeBron, and anyone to stand on the court to make 5 players.

Balanced is the correct word.
They need to accomplish quite a but before they are better.

I don't agree on the Kobe/Wade argument though.
It all boils down to % of cap space used.
Kobe's getting 10M/ year more when the cap space is lower.

You guys act like Wade is some corpse.
I suggest you look at his numbers again.
Dragic and Whiteside will only make him better while allowing him to do less.

Here are the numbers that I am looking at.
Last 4 years games played: 49, 69, 54, 62.
I'm with Riley, I'm not giving that kind of money to a part time player.

And while his points are still there for the most part, when he plays, the steals and rebounds are slipping away showing he is not the player on the defensive side that he used to be. If his numbers are falling why not his salary number too?

Wade's 33 now so his best days could be behind him. Think he goes to Chicago, his hometown for 2-3 seasons and then retires.

If you were Riley, you would know that Wade was the key reason that James/Bosh joined the team.
Then to make it all work Wade united with the other 2 to make the numbers work.
In doing so, they all sacrificed many millions.
That sacrifice netted Arison how many millions?
Then, Wade opted out last summer to try to once again help the team.

So, more than number of games played needs to be considered when making this decision.

He's not asking for Kobe money...a few extra million over a few years makes sense and doesn't kill what they are trying to do.

I dont know who's decision it was to force Wade to sit back to backs. That sounds like Riley more than Dwayne saying that he refused to play back to backs.

Trade noah, free up his 13 million, Rose, Wade, Butler, Gibson, Gasol is pretty solid if the new coach actually has plays to run and isnt doing isolation the entire second half.

Can't overpay players even your legends if you want your franchise to continue to compete for championships. Signing Wade to the deal his agent wants may limit the Heat significantly in 2016. They will work it out but it needs to be fair to both parties.

152 million is what Miami will have paid DWade after next year.

Dwyane Wade NBA Stats | Basketball-Reference.com

It's hard for me to feel bad for Wade for taking less a few years and somehow now the Heat owe him. 152 million is how much Miami has paid him through the years. Add in his endorsements. I am sure Miami is offering him a more than fair deal considering his is a 33 year old player with bad knees and only plays about 75% of games a year, and of those about 2/3's effectively. Wade basically wants 17 million as a 36 year old basketball player with bad knees who will likely be playing somewhere in the 50 games a season range at that point in his career. Whiteside is young. Dragic isn't old. Bosh's game should age well. We can be competitive in 3 years with the right front office moves. I love me some DWade. 17 million a season right now is a joke, let alone in 3 years.

Actually could work really well but Jimmy would have to go back to being a SF which may be a huge advantage as he is too athletic for most.

Since rose really doesn't enjoy passing especially late. Wade can take on the play maker role.

This really all boils down to whether promises were made behind closed doors or not.

Yeah, I can see that pissing him off.

Aww man...wait until Russ sees this!

If True, Riley has some balls.

Way to low ball your Franchise guy.

I mean, Wade is insane if he thinks he's worth 17 m plus per.

But, this is slightly insulting when you factor in his production, tenure and what he has sacraficed in the past.

Let the Arison is a cheap bastard chants began.

It was Wade, not James, who by himself kept Udonis Haslem in Miami. Wade went to James with the idea of taking less money to include Haslem. James refused. The Heat couldn’t figure out a way to make a competitive offer to Haslem within salary-cap constraints until Wade volunteered to take that salary hit alone. It is why Wade was paid millions less than Bosh and James — one of the sacrifices Wade would make on behalf of team that he evidently would now like reimbursed. Miami Herald

You can keep Noah. We don't want him down in Miami.

Wow. If true, I can't blame Wade for walking. I'd still be a Heat fan and would be optimistic for our future if we re-sign Dragic and Whiteside in 2016 along with Bosh being here till 2020. But damn. Plus, Dragic apparently likes playing in the back court with Wade, so if Wade walks, how does that impact Dragic? I think Riles needs to sack up. Personally, I think Wades worth about $10-$13 mil per...but that's just me.

Is Gilbert Arenas still being paid 20 some million per year by an NBA team while playing in China?
