It is pretty obvious that Chip is now in charge, for better or worse. Time will tell.

This was basically Lurie explaining why he demoted Howie, and acknowledging that this whole effort represents a pretty big gamble by the organization, a departure from the way it has done business for the past two decades.

Lurie said to go from mediocre to good is no longer the goal. He wants to go from good to great, and to do that, a team has to take chances. That may be true. We will have to see if the chances pan out, or send us to the bottom of the division while Chip goes back to coaching college.

I just see it getting ugly down the line or maybe it wont. I can just see this relationship falling apart in the FO if the team fails. In the last press conference with Chip, he threw Howie under the bus and I can see more of that if things don't go to this master plan. Chip also said that he has nothing to do with these changes, now it seems that Lurie is saying different ??

I seen another headline a little while ago and it said Chip was in Luries Soap Opera. I am just wondering if Chip is enjoying all this publicity or not. I guess winning will fix all, but I really do not see this team as a Superbowl contender yet and I hope a failed season does not cause a giant meltdown in the FO.

Chip is in charge and is thoroughly running a bus over Howie. This better work out (and I think it will) or Laurie is screwed bigtime.

Yeah, Lurie could be left holding the bag bigtime in a year if this flops.

Maybe. What he said is he wanted to trade for Bradford without giving up Foles. My sense is he probably still wanted to trade Foles, but maybe to another team for better compensation.

So semantics then.

Hard to evaluate Chips comments. But that can be said about a lot of people.

While these are huge changes, if you look closely, I really don't see a heck of a lot more risk assumed than staying with the status quo.

- They kept Graham over Cole. No biggie. They weren't going to be able to keep both.
- They got Maxwell and Thurmond rather than Fletcher and Williams. No real risk there.
- They added a high potential ILB in Alonso at a low price.
- They swapped McCoy for Murray. Really pretty much a wash in terms of talent.
- They swapped Foles for Bradford. Higher Ceiling and lower floor. But the risk is mitigated with the Sanchez signing.
- They let Maclin walk. That is the only real loss on this list. Everything else is Kelly switching out a guy that he didn't like for arguably an equally capable guy that he didn't. Of course Alonso and Maxwell should be a huge pluses.

This could blow up on them or be highly successful, but so could have maintaining the status quo.

I suspect CK has to make the playoffs this year to keep his job.

Why are we acting like the media, where they keep digging for a story, when there isn't one?
Chip is building the team in his own image, that's all. We'll see how it plays out. He is looking for the best players he can get. Plus, he is not under a mandate to win the SB this year. As long as Jeffrey sees progress toward a SB, that's all that matters. And, I don't buy into Chip leaving in 2 years to go back to college. That would be admitting failure. He said that that ship has sailed. He wants to win on the big stage. R-E-L-A-X.

lol…so the guy gets the keys to the car for one year and if he fails to make the playoffs he's jettisoned by Lurie!? This is not Washington where we go through head coaches every other year.

If CK's three years results in one playoff appearance, a loss, hard for Lurie to say he wants to go from good to great. Owners expect their 9-3 teams to make the playoffs. Losing to the lowly Redskins at home late in the season with the playoffs on the line, was on Kelly. Lurie says he wants results, JMO.

He is accustomed to the Snyder thought process.

The media sure seems to have gotten into everyone's head. They are in business to make news NOT follow it.

Its ridiculous how many full time reporters cover the Eagles. During the slow time of year, they end up with nothing better to do than speculate (i.e. make things up).

The Eagles are currently 14-2 to win the NFC Championship behind only the Seahawk, Packers and Cowboys.

Injuries are the great differentiator, and I think the Eagles have depth at the DL, LB, TE, RB and QB spots. Its DB, OL and WR that have questionable depth, so I suspect that is where they will draft.

Really though, unless they get a rash of injuries to the OL like they did last year, this team should be competing against every team.

CK is not in any danger of losing his job. He has several more years to show what he can do.

If he left now, this team will have lost all it's key players to build a franchise around tho, and will have been left with nothing. I mean really, is ANYONE even jersey worthy right now??? A lot of potential here/there, but the key is not to move sideways, it is to IMPROVE.

I am still very concerned that CK buys too much into scheme, and not enough into player skills and player longevity. He seems to make holes as fast as he fills them. Which in one aspect is better than Reid, who seemed to ignore holes and disvalue entire positions. It's a complete wait and see at this point.

We will either be very good... very bad.. or somewhere in the middle. :gaah:

The big question is will this team will gel together and win! They do have a good nucleus and a good draft could fill some holes and the biggest holes now are QB and WR. IMO Maclin had a breakout year but you have to admit we waited along time for it. Maclin was just one of those players that got away and it happens to every team every year. The Eagles did not tag Maclin because I think most of us agree he was not a 13 or 14 mill a year guy. I myself think that Chip is pretty confident that Matthews is going to be the goto guy and Huff is questionable so look for a high pick for a WR. The big story is that we do not have a QB. I think it is pretty safe to say that Sanchez is most likely going to be the QB of the Philadelphia Eagles next season. Even if Mariota finds his way here, he is still a year away.

IMO I like the moves the Eagles made, I am pretty stoked. I know for many many years guys on this board screamed for a running game and I think it is safe to say that we have got it. The Eagles are going to be able to run the ball anyway they want!! Shady was a good back, but he is a better dancer than hit the hole and go. I don't know about anybody else but I have to say that this draft is the most anticipated draft for me ever!!! I believe that Mariota is going to go number #1. I don't think Winston is to much of a crap shoot and will be a major BUST!
