Who remembers the doubters last year when Leighton came on board.

-Leighton hasn't played enough games to be any good.
-He is on a good streak and will come down to reality.
-He is a career back up/minor leaguer.

Maybe he had some good coaching and changed a serious flaw in his game? Anyone notice that after about 4 games that Bob has much better positioning? Early in the season he was too far back in net and now comes out and challenges. Has Bob played enough to say he is the real deal? I think so. He looks too sound to not be.

I think he is. What will really show us is how he is playing after 40 games or so, when teams can scout him. BUt he is big in the net, quick, doesn't seem to fall asleep in there. Plus, rarely do you hear veterans openly rave about a rookie who may take another veteran's job so openly. If you go in the FLyer's store at the Center, there are Bob jerseys pre-made on the shelves. I would assume that means they are going to give him his shot...

I don't know, I said this the other night.. This team is building chemistry again and our "D" looks totally relaxed and confident with Bob in net.. If our "D" stays healthy then Bob has nothing to do but play sound positional goal and learn and get better, same thing Leighton did last year.. Believe it or not we have a very good defense, and IMO your goalie usually goes the way your defense goes..

yes bob is the real deal.
the scary thing is he hasn't even scratched the surface of what he's capable of in my opinoin. he's still adjusting to the north american game, still learning the language, and still only what..22? sure teams will learn his style after a few more games but just think about where bob is right now. never even had a goalie coach. now with a pro goalie coach, he's going to tap into things in his game that he never could in russia

BOB is the real deal. I really just would prefer Leighton gone if possible.

It is too early to tell. The sample size isn't big enough to see if he's a product of the defense or if he's just hot right now or if he actually is a franchise goalie.

I will say he was as good as a hot Niittymaki the last few games, and Niittymaki is/was unstoppable when he's on.

Like many have said, it's way too early to tell.

But man, I haven't felt this comfortable with a Philadelphia goaltender in a while. Having confidence that your netminder will make the necessary saves is enlightening.

You'd rather have Boosh as the backup? I wouldn't. I think having Leights backing up Bob is an excellent option.

I was never a big Leighton fan. I have always believed the Defense in the playoffs won the games. He was never spectacular. He was good I'll give him that. And I will never get over the Kane goal. Im bias...I cant help it

He is a more than adequate 20 game/year guy. And if he has to play for a bit, he can get just as hot as Leighton. I think Boosh is content as a backup as well.

KS, Propp,
I understand, but I think Leighton has more up side than Boosh! That being said I agree with the Defense thing.

The only problem with Boosh is for some reason we don't seem to score when he's in net.

Who cares though, we have BOB!:D

situation I dont want to see if Leighton becomes backup:

-Bobs has a bad game
-Leighton starts next game
-Leighton plays well
-THE OH SO FAMILIAR GOALIE CONTROVERSY !!!!!

I think our "D" has a lot of confidence in Bob and wont let one bad game bite him in the ass, Not sure Lavy would do that. In Bob we trust.. LOl

SF13, he probably does. But if we are going on the assumption that Bob is the legit starter, than I would rather have a proven backup that costs less than a wannabe starter making more. If the Flyers are up in the air about Bob long term, than I would keep Leights.

HA, It's rough having to choose between 3 goalies. Lol when the hell has that ever happened in Philly before. As long as they all produce when called upon it will not matter to me. I just want to win a fuckin cup!

So you want us to keep the worse player just to avoid a controversy? I don't know man -- I'm a big fan of the philosophy of putting all the best players on the squad. Besides, everything usually comes out in the wash anyway.

Well he was expected to be good in a few years so being good now is only natural, right?

These games he has won, not the D.
