I think it is staying pretty true to source, so I will give it that. But I just found it lacking. I will stick with it, my expectations are just adjusted at this point.

The only thing that could be considered “modernizing” is making his gf black. But that has not affected the story in any way.

i don’t recall. But they also took out one of the iconic moments of the early editions when mark takes him flying he literally says “this is so Gay” while William is in his arms lol

there’s also the laughable “they have a good social justice program” line. A major that was (correctly) made fun of back then.

also, I looked it up, they turned William gay years later. Not in the high school stuff.

Making Rex black changes the story in no way whatsoever.

the guardians were in the book for a grand total of 2.5 pages. I would have been ok with them essentially changing all the character to something completely different. With a few exceptions that I won’t mention here for spoiler reasons.

I am very sensitive to wokifying these shows, but honestly, I just don’t see it here. Not yet, at least.

I think the one that really pissed me off was mark saying it was sexist tor someone to say that beating the dragon and getting the girl was the dream

I think Kirkman was always in that boat. The entire character Jesus (in TWD) was a big “fuck You” to religious people.

I tried getting into collecting for a few months in HS (right about the time Bishop was introduced by Marvel), but it never took. I have kinda picked up reading some titles in the last 10 years or so online, but even then, only some independent stuff. Marvel and DC reset too often, so continuity basically doesn’t exist.

yeah. I’ve bought some stuff on my kindle, but I admit it really isn’t the same, and I just can’t store so many comics or even trade paperbacks .

I have too many books (not just comics) as it is. So many books. I need to read them all too

The issue with the girlfriend isn't that they changed the race, it is that they made her an insufferable ass. I can't recall a more unlikable character that was not a villain in any show. The rest of that season was awesome though. I am pumped for season 2. Great show.

I think if you think those are butchered than you are just looking to hate. Which is fine, not every shoe is for everyone.
