Completely different situation; Jones consented to have his name and likeness used while Watkins had no knowledge of the situation. Watkins is also expected to be eligible for the Orange Bowl.

1) Not surprised he was ruled eligible.

2) he knowingly used his name or image to promote a party that requires admission. Whether he was paid or not, it is a violation to use your likeness to promote any for profit event. If the ncaa wanted to press it would be bad for Jones/unc.

there wasnt an event for profit that he promoted...their is no party so i dont see how it is going to require admission. He can have another party next week though and promote it as much as he wants. He just cant have the party that he promoted. if i understand it all correctly, he just has to hope the party doesnt happen, but even if it does he cant be penalized because then he isnt a student athlete that the ncaa can penalize.

Doing some searching on PackPride. Looks like we may hear something about this within the next week. Usually there is an 8-12 week window where penalties are handed down after the hearing. Tomorrow will be 11 weeks since the hearing on October 28th.
