Mason Raymond with a broken thumb and is out two weeks. Ehrhoff may have a concussion, and Samuelsson is day-to-day with a concussion. Yikes. Our depth will be tested now. Schneider starting Saturday, BTW.

Would be nice to see Hodgson called up to fill Raymond's spot.

Or they'll plug Mmmbop in there and call up some plumber.

Ooops... nevermind. Hodgson may now be out for a game or two

OKLAHOMA CITY — Top Vancouver Canucks prospect Cody Hodgson left Manitoba Moose practice early today after taking a high stick in the face.

Hodgson was smacked by teammate Lee Sweatt during a battle drill about 45 minutes into today's workout at Cox Convention Center.

His status for Friday night's game here against the Oklahoma City Barons isn't known. Hodgson left the arena shortly after practice concluded with Moose physiotherapist Rob Milette, presumably to be checked out medically. Hodgson, who scored his 10th goal of the season Tuesday night, best on the team, had a large red welt on his left cheek.

After being struck with the stick that rode up under his visor, Hodgson continued to participate in the practice for four minutes but then couldn't continue.

"We'll have to get him looked at and see what's happening," said Moose coach Claude Noel. "That will be determined by our medical people."

Noel, who was aggravated after Tuesday's 5-2 loss to the Texas Stars, promised Wednesday the team would be "investing" at practice today.

Noel conducted a very workmanlike practice that lasted 64 minutes. During that time, he only raised his voice once, and only briefly.

"I just wanted us to work, to battle," the coach said. "You just can't get away from doing the work, that's the bottom line.

"It wasn't necessarily a punishment practice. It was a work practice. We haven't practised a whole lot. It was disappointing the way we played (Tuesday). It's unacceptable.

"It should be unacceptable for everybody. If work is what we need to work on, then let's work on working and that's what we tried to do."

Cody's got a broken cheekbone and is missing a month himself.

Botchford tweeted that it "looks like" a broken cheekbone. Any real confirmation yet?

If Cody Hodgson had any luck it would be bad.

The Canucks prospect was hit in the face during a drill on Thursday in Oklahoma City, where the Manitoba Moose will play on Friday, and suffered what's now being acknowledged as a broken orbital bone.

“I know he's going back to Winnipeg for a second opinion, but it looks from what we've heard there is a fracture there,” said Canucks coach Alain Vigneault on Friday following his team's practice.

The timing couldn't be worse for Hodgson, who was rounding nicely in to form in the AHL after missing most of last season with back problems. The incident happened just before the Canucks announced on Friday that winger Mason Raymond had suffered a broken thumb in Wednesday's shootout win over Anaheim. Hodgson, a skilled forward, would have been a natural replacement for Raymond.
